He inspected the chimney top-to-bottom, took photos and clearly showed me what was wrong, how he would correct it, and the cost. He swept the chimney to remove creosote and ash and I readily agreed the evidence was there, so he proceeded to effect the repairs he suggested. "Our house was filling with smoke when we lit a fire so we called for service thinking we had creosote buildup clogging the flue. It turned out the damper was stuck in the closed position causing the smoke. He was able to quickly diagnose the issue and even returned on a weekend day to complete the job. The only issue is that with our first fire, the house again filled with smoke and I placed a call back to inquire what his thoughts were on the matter and he never returned my call. Ultimately, we decided it was downdrafts causing the smoke and we have been able to enjoy our fireplace since without incidents. Cost $100"
