"Rooter Man did a great job pumping our septic tank. Very professional and efficient work on a tank that was near capacity. When finished our tank was in great shape. Reasonable price. We will hire them again. Recommended."

"The plumber called to let me know he could arrive earlier than the scheduled time. The problem: water continued to flow out of the outside water spigot even though it was turned off. The plumber and his assistant got to work immediately. The work was completed efficiently and fast. The shower head was installed for free. They were kind, courteous and professional."

"They responded quickly to my email asking for service. They came and measured the distance to the tank to make sure they had enough hose length to reach the tank , allaying my concern that they would havre to dive across the lawn to reach it.

"The most recent visit was for the annual check-up and service of a crawlspace lining, dehumidification and sump-pump system installed 8 years ago. The system has done a marvelous job of keeping the crawlspace dry and the annual service by well-trained technicians has been excellent."

"Went fine but they couldn't do the work of installing the humidifier bc of the space available. Call time was 8 to 10 AM. Got a message at 8 AM that they were leaving. I should've got that message at 7 AM."

"Thad, the owner of the company came out and gave me the estimate and although the work was completed by his employees, he was in contact with them throughout the job and everyone kept me well informed about the process and since I have an older home, when they ran into issues that they needed to resolve, they were good problem solvers. I have already recommended them!"

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

3/4 HP is stronger than 1/2 HP. Horsepower measures how much weight can be moved and how fast, or the power needed to move 550 pounds one foot in one second. 1 HP equals 550 foot-pounds per second, so the higher the horsepower, the heavier the load it can lift. While 1/2 HP is a standard, powerful option, 3/4 HP has the extra strength to handle heavier, larger doors with ease.

Several indicators suggest it's time for a sump pump replacement. A key factor is age; if the pump is over 10 years old, its lifespan is likely ending. Performance issues are also clear signs, such as the pump running constantly, cycling on and off frequently, making unusual noises or vibrations, or failing to function at all. A faulty or burnt-out motor is another definite sign a replacement is needed. Additionally, if you notice any signs of incorrect installation, the pump should be replaced. For a definitive diagnosis, a vetted plumber can assess the pump and confirm whether a replacement is necessary.

Yes, it’s normal (and beneficial) to have a small amount of water in the bottom of your sump pit. It shows that your system is collecting groundwater, rain, and excess water from around your property—just like it’s supposed to. However, if the sump pit is always full, you might have a leak or a faulty sump pump.

Sump pump repairs are typically handled by plumbers or waterproofing specialists who are experienced in handling basement and foundation-related issues. Plumbers can address issues like clogs, electrical problems, and mechanical failures, and waterproofing professionals may be ideal if the sump pump is part of a larger drainage or waterproofing system.

Some people may also call on a general handyperson for minor sump pump repairs. However, for complex problems, hiring a certified plumber or waterproofing expert ensures the work is done correctly and prevents further issues.

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to drain wastewater and solid waste into the municipal sewer system or a septic tank. For fixtures below this level, like those in a basement, gravity cannot move the waste upward. The ejector pump provides the force needed to pump the sewage up to the main line. Without one, wastewater from below-ground fixtures would back up, potentially causing a sewage overflow and flooding. If all of your plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity is sufficient and an ejector pump is not needed.
