"They installed a Viqua B4 system in 2016 and the technician was very nice and respectful but forgot to run chlorine through the appliances' water lines so I still had coliform bacteria in my system. So they came back out again to do that (and once again sent a very nice technician) but now I learned from the manufacturer (after having a positive test for coliform bacteria) they should've run chlorine through the outside faucet attached to the house as well which could be contaminating the inside water. Also the manufacturer said it should've sat for 4 hours w/the chlorine but they only had it in there for 30 minutes. Also they sold me a 2012 model although it was 2016 which did not include an automated display of bulb life left and alarm to let me know when to change the bulb. Snider said (through the very polite receptionist since he would not call me back to answer my technical questions) if the light is on then the system is working. So according to Mr. Snider I should not have bacteria but I do. Last year I called to have another company replace the bulb because Snider charges triple the price of other plumbers. The bulb has a retail price of $100 but Snider charges $300 plus a $65 dispatch fee because I am 20 minutes away. All you have to do to replace the bulb is lift it out of the sleeve and put in a new one which is not worth $265 for 5 minutes of work (you can see a video on youtube how it is done). Even the manufacturer said that price was ridiculous. Also when I cleaned the inside of the kitchen faucet before taking the water sample recently I noticed a pink film on my cotton swab which could be a biofilm. When you have a biofilm it protects the bacteria from being killed by the chlorine, and in this case a UV light will not help. They did not check for any biofilm when they came out to install the filter. If the biofilm is the problem then I may have wasted my money on a UV light that is not really necessary and not addressing the problem. The house may have sat for a while before I purchased it since it was a rental and this is kind of environment that would cause a biofilm to form."

"BEWARE: This is NOT GOOD business to deal with. This company PREYS on WOMEN customers who have electrical issues. The company states they can fix an electrical problem but they charge a HIGH fee for coming out. I was game and didn’t see at the time that I was being hoaxed. My issue: electrical circuit breaker that turned off due to too much power going through electric outlet at one time. After the circuit breaker went off, I went downstairs to turned it back to the ‘on’ position. But no electric power could be gained. I tried to troubleshoot through google (to no avail). At this point I called this electrical business. The representative asked me for my address and year my home was built. I told him my address and that my home is less than 2 years old. He then stated that oftentimes builders of new homes may use electrical outlets for construction purposes, which may LESSEN the life of circuit breakers. Long story short, I had the company come out to take a look at electrical outlet and (bad) circuit breaker. The Technician solved the problem in two seconds and I was charged the HIGH FEE ($175) for an APPOINTMENT that lasted @ 5 minutes (tech writing receipt / me talking to management about charge)"

"IN OVER HIS HEAD. Eric promised a completed project in 6 months. 22 months later, Eric walked off the job without completion leaving us with unfinished rooms and a house full of necessary punch work as well as unaddressed warranty items that we now have to pay someone else to finish or fix. Awful experience. Kinnie might be good for small jobs, but he clearly has no idea how to sequence and schedule a significant renovation. "

Lighting questions, answered by experts

Flickering lights, intermittent outages, or physical damage to fixtures signal immediate repair to avoid electrical hazards.

The easiest and best way to power your outdoor lights is with the use of outdoor outlets. Most building codes now require exterior outlets in homes, so you likely already have outdoor outlets available to plug into. However, you can have these outlets installed if your space doesn’t currently include them.

The five common types of landscape lighting are up-lighting, down-lighting, spotlights, built-in lighting, and pathway lighting.

  • Up-lighting casts light upwards from the ground, mostly for aesthetic purposes.

  • Down-lighting directs light onto the ground, lighting pathways, or outdoor space.

  • Spotlights cast direct, focused lighting in any direction.

  • Built-in lighting integrates lighting into an outdoor feature.

  • Pathway lighting illuminates walkways, increasing safety.

Common problems include faulty wiring, broken fixtures, and burnt-out bulbs. Regular maintenance prevents many issues.

Your maintenance needs revolve around the type of foundation you choose, as well as how you furnish or decorate it. Patios require little else other than the occasional hose-down, but decks and other wooden structures will require annual power washing and sealing. You may also need to restain the wood every two to three years.

Adding a solid roof rather than building a pergola or leaving the space open will make maintenance much easier. Without a roof, you will need to spend more time sweeping, washing, and covering your furniture to protect it from UV bleaching.
