"We called Tom’s to give us a second opinion on our ac that wasn’t working after being quoted $11,000 from another company. Sonya answered and was very professional but also personable which made us feel comfortable from the start. Although we were given a similar diagnosis, Tom’s gave us most options that were available to get our ac back up and running. Not to mention they quoted us only $7,000 to replace the whole system which is way better then the quote from the other company but they also quoted us to repair the issue within the original unit. Hunter and Lane were very informative when diagnosing our ac issue and they used some high tech tools that verified and gave us extra comfort in what they were saying. JD and Lane came back to do the repairs and my gosh our ac works amazing! Sonya was also helpful every step of the way as this is our first home and had no clue what we were doing. Never once felt like they were trying to get over on us! You will definitely be making the just choice in trusting them! They also offer financing if needed. They worked diligently to help my family get ac back even in a hot sunny day. I can’t thank them enough!"

"We used Aqua Pros to put in a new liner and resurface our pool steps. At first the customer service from the sales rep was great (when trying to get our business). The step resurfacing took place June 21st. I reached out about areas needing to be touched up and was told he would be back in touch. After 5 days I had to reach out again to follow up as I hadn't heard anything. Then June 27th the liner was put in and the second coat was done on the steps. There were still two areas we noticed the next day when it dried that looked like they scraped something across it. The service guys also poured the dirty sand water and liner pieces into my garden bed and left the junk there for us to clean up!! They also had said they would schedule the water hauling company to come back the following week to fill the pool the rest of the way up. I again reached out and I was told the service manager would reach out about the garden bed and steps. They also said they were trying to get the water company back out. After two more weeks we got someone else to fill up the pool with water bc at this point it had turned green bc it wasn't high enough to reach the filters. This caused us over a week of dealing with having to get the chemicals balanced right to get the pool water to normal levels and clarity. They tried to say the service guys were given "the thumbs up" on the steps even though we weren't home when they finished them. My husband saw them while they were working and gave a generic "it's looking good", so I guess they tried to use that as the all clear. He had then left to go back to work while they continued working on the steps. Several more emails, phone calls, and a stop at their Bedford location and now it is Aug 2nd and we have yet to be contacted by the service manager!! I guess once they received our $12K they figured they didn't have to provide us with the touchups or to make things right about the flower bed. We will never use them again!!"

Gas Logs questions, answered by experts

Yes, it’s possible to convert an oil furnace to gas. However, you may have to replace the furnace completely instead of simply converting it. If the original oil furnace has had any type of damage or is older (typically considered over 15 years old), then you will likely need a full replacement versus a conversion.

Even if you invested in the cost of a gas shut-off valve for your oven and other appliances, it’s a good idea to add a seismic shut-off valve as an extra safety measure.

Gas shut-off valves for appliances are manual, meaning someone has to cut off the flow of gas. This leaves room for error, as you might not be home or might be too distracted to think about gas lines during an earthquake. An earthquake valve is automatic and will protect your home from gas-related disasters in the event of an earthquake.

The best way to reset this valve is to contact your utility provider to do so safely. If the pipes are damaged and you reset the valve anyway, it could lead to a gas leak. It’s important to call in a pro as soon as you can to reconnect your gas supply after an earthquake and ensure the device will work again the next time there’s a quake.

In most cases, a gas stove should be installed by a licensed plumber. Connecting gas appliances carries many risks, chief among them a fatal gas leak. If your home is already set up with the proper gas hookups, you may be able to DIY the installation (or save money by hiring a local handyperson or basic appliance installer near you rather than a plumber). If you’re ever in doubt, however, we recommend going with a professional master plumber.

No, you cannot plant a tree above a gas line. Tree roots grow and spread over time and can sometimes dent, crack, or penetrate a gas line. Those same roots may also cause accessibility problems for maintenance or repairs. You can generally plant vegetation with non-invasive root systems, low-growing vegetation, and flower beds near gas lines.
