Jordan Mechanical & Electric

To start this whole debacle, I am in the military and I'm leaving for training (2 week course) in a few days. My wife has breast cancer and is slow to get around. I'm having a whole-home generator installed so that my wife and kids are protected while I'm gone during some of the coldest weather we were supposed to have in our area so far this year. To facilitate this new generator, a new gas meter is required. So, Columbia Gas replaced our gas meter and afterwards the gas line failed their pressure test. Subsequently, our gas was turned off and suddenly we have no heat or hot water! I have to admit that I was suspicious of the gas company because we have lived in this house for 10 years and never knew we had a "leak" until then. Columbia Gas says the only way to get the gas back on is to have a plumber or HVAC company test and repair the leaking gas line. After speaking with a few other plumbers/HVAC companies (all of which were unavailable until 2 days later) that were "recommended", I Googled all local HVAC companies and started with Jordan Mechanical as they had the highest ratings in our area (and for good reason!). The young lady answering the phone immediately told me "not to worry, we'll find someone for you...you can't go without heat or hot water!" I was thankful for her response. She called me back within 5 minutes and said she had a technician in route. They showed up and walked me through their gas line testing process while they were doing it, and sure enough I could see each and every leak in the line!! How that line leaked without causing any trouble is beyond me. So the technician says he'll be back the next morning (it was late in the evening when they came out) by 09:00 to start the work...folks, he was there 10 minutes early. So to make a long story short, they replaced the lines and couldn't have done a better job instilling confidence with me! From the first phone call I made to Jordan Mechanical, until the job was finished, they were some of the most courteous, technical, and professional folks I've ever had to deal with, hands down! If you're in need of any type of home A/C, plumbing, electrical AND gas line work, in my honest opinion, you're best choice is Jordan Mechanical!

I have to say that I had forgotten all about Jordan Mechanical as their installation of my heatpump some eight or so years ago was so perfect. It's great when you can have a job done right the first time and then simply never think of it again (believe me that's a good thing). So Craig, the owner is a very good guy who does great work. When I came home from work, the heatpump had been installed and honsestly I think they left my house cleaner than when they arrived. Everything was put back where it had been, and I could see that the installation details were all meticulously performed. (i.e. lines running outside to unit were neatly sealed with concrete, condensate line was routed securely, things like that...) Heatpump has had zero issues! I have recommended Jordan to others over the years but it wasn't until lately that I remembered him as I now need some electrical work done. I am sure he will do a great job and has already visited my home and evaluated the problem and its remedy. Craig is simply a really good guy, someone you will feel right at home with talking to him. I highly recommend his services.

Workers spent a few hours spanning two housecalls to troubleshoot the problem. Both times, they arrived later than promised and spent longer than estimated. They never found the problem, which was a tripped GFI receptacle on the same circuit (which a real electrician identified within five minutes of arriving). On a later occasion, I asked them to provide a quote/estimate for replacing my furnaces and heat pumps (two total) but the sales rep/manager missed the appointment, called later to re-schedule, and then arrived late to the re-scheduled appointment. Apparently, his incompetent workers required his personal intervention at a job site to get something done. Overall, they are fairly good at standard and straight-forward work involving HVAC. Not very good at electrical issues, and I cannot vouch for the skill of their technicians. They are fairly cheap compared to other providers, so using them for some kind of preventative/annual maintenance or checkup may be a good way to use them.

It was great. It looks really nice. The basement has a low ceiling and now it looks very homey. They have also installed a furnace and air conditioner. When we have called they will always come out.

I spent too much for their service. Their price was very high. The service was fine. It was a good company and they had a good reputation. However, their rate was $79 per hour. I did not think that the value was fair for what I needed to have done as there were less costly people here.
