"Bay crawlspace and foundation repair was very helpful. The tech, William, Was very knowledgeable and had a quick solution to our issue (French drain not draining properly) and offered to fix it free of charge. They quickly came out to look at our problem and set us up with an appointment to fix the issue. I would highly recommend this company to anyone. -Jeremy Malmgren"

"BLUF: Extremely professional, detail-driven, highly recommend, intend to use again. Lost one star on overall grade due to lack of subcontractor control. *Edited to give the star back because of how quickly Worleys made things right. Work completed: Backed up drain cleaned out then scoped, revealed bellied pipes, required 150 ft of sewer pipe replacement (to include going through the slab for access), adding gravel under the pipe, and French drain installation near the sewer pipe to prevent recurrence. Worleys caught the root cause of our problems, which at least 4 other local plumbing companies missed. What impressed us is they hold a professionalism/technical standard higher than state requirements. They went the extra mile in many ways; even saved my more expensive landscaping plants and did not have to. The sub-contractor was just okay, we ran into a couple quality control issues there. Worleys very quick to make it right. Ask for a Happy Check if there is a problem with a subcontractor."

"The process went very smoothly.  There were several teams that worked on my project.  The initial workers removed all of the old insulation and trash left under the house during construction, and cleaned the joists.  Later a perimeter drain system was installed, and the final job was to insulate the foundation perimeter and install the vapor barrier.

All the work was done in a professional manner and the workers were all very courteous.  They were on time and on budget."
Unsealed porous foundation walls. Efflorescence has grown along the outside walls.
Plastic is laid out to protect the freshly pained walls and floor.
Open vents in the foundation walls allow outside air and moisture to infiltrate the crawl space, increasing the relative humidity and allowing mold spores to thrive inside.
Spray foam application in progress on warehouse walls.
The dirt floor is exposed, which will allow the moisture from the earth to rise uncontested into the crawl space, adding to the increase in relative humidity.

French Drains questions, answered by experts

In some cases, operating a snake can damage your drain and pipes. This depends on the overall condition of your pipes and how gently you operate the auger. For instance, older galvanized pipes covered in zinc are susceptible to scratches when using a drain snake. Additionally, it’s common for newbies to apply too much force when extending the snake, leading to scratches and related damage. You can also crack the porcelain with an electric auger if you’re snaking a toilet drain. If you’re using a manual snake or auger, the risk is minimal.

It is okay to use a drain auger on a toilet, just make sure you are using the correct tip size. The auger is a plumbing snake with a protective sleeve to protect the porcelain toilet bowl from getting scratched. Using too large of an auger can cause the snake to loop back and damage the inside of the drain and plumbing.

This depends on the location of the blockage. If the blockage is in your home’s system, anywhere in the system, it is your responsibility as a homeowner. Blockages seldom happen because of items or buildup coming from the city, which means it originates in the home. It becomes the city’s responsibility at the exact point your home’s line distributes waste into the city’s system. The exception is if the problem in your home damages the city lines.

To clean gunk out of a sink drain, pour in a half cup of baking soda, then 1 cup of white vinegar. The two will react chemically; let them fizz for 15 minutes, then rinse with boiling water. Repeat these steps if necessary for particularly dirty sink drains, and consider a drain snake if there are clogs.

A small amount of diluted bleach is okay to pour down a garbage disposal. As part of your weekly garbage disposal maintenance, use 1 teaspoon of bleach with your concoction of ice cubes and lemon peels. Turn on the disposal and run the water until the blades chop up the ice cubes.

Any more bleach in your disposal can harden oils and greases in your drain, which can cause problems. Always wear gloves when working with bleach, and know that you really don’t need bleach at all—vinegar, baking soda, salt, and ice should do the trick.
