"I hate being condescended to. Listen to what I want and then give suggestions on how I might be able to work that out in my kitchen. Don't just tell me it can't be done. I felt like I was wasting my time. I asked about a particular type of closet (not realizing it was part of a bigger cabinet...how would I know) and she told me to follow her (using her finger to me like a child) and said I couldn't have it because it was as part of a bigger piece. She could have just said that. I said if I can't make my kitchen more "usable" (less wasted space), WHY to with custom cabinets. I could just reface. The woman behind me who was waiting to ask her a question said. Listen, if you can't get what you want, I don't blame you for not spending the money. It's easy to reface. So, I called another company and, low and behold, I'm getting partial refacing and partial custom cabinets. He came and we discussed HOW I could get my carousel cabinet (uh - he suggested I go from a double to a single sink - easy peasy) AND, he came in at half the price your website suggested I might pay. It is really nice to be listened to...especially when it's MY money I'm spending."

"Kitchen Tune Up: My wife and I recently decided to update our kitchen. We had several estimators come and give us their offers for us to decide. I saw an add for Kitchen Tune Up and called them. The owner Mark, came to our home, sat, listened to what we wanted, took measurements and provided us with his professional suggestions. We were impressed with his presentation and the fact that he let us take our time with no pressure. We decided to give him the contract. In no time the project was under way, completed to our satisfaction and very reasonable. Teresa and Shawn showed up on time, prepare their work area, and went right at their task. They did a remarkable job, and cleaned up after completion. Mark went the extra mile with his detailing to ensure we were satisfied with the appearance of my wife's desires. "Tommy Papineau the owner of Always Painting by Tommy is a consummate professional.  He was the third quote (from Angie's List) we got for painters and I can say with all certainty:   "we saved the best for last."  Tommy and Brian arrived on time for the estimate and thoroughly managed our expectations on cost, what was required to get the job done perfectly and the length of time it would take.  They promised a written quote and it was delivered ina timely fashion.
   We chose Always Painting by Tommy and could not be happier that we did.  Tommy, Louis and Brian arrived on time every day, some times early.  They cleaned up after themselves even going as far as getting down on their hands and knees to hand wash the drywall dust off our hardwood floors.  Brian spent a good three hours cleaning our bathroom after they were finished and it was definitely cleaner than some of the house keeping companies I've hired to come in. 
    The work was carefully executed, with no surprises. The Always Painting by Tommy Team had laser-like focus on the task at hand with communication flowing between themselves and with us, the homeowners. Quality was everything. Tommy was meticulous in the delivery of his product. Nothing was rushed.  Nothing was dragged out. Quality was consistent in every phase of the project.  Their experience and vast knowledge of their craft  made everything flow so very smoothly.  It also distinguished them in my mind from all the rest because of the pride they take in their work.  They are true artists.  
     The walls in our master bathroom were a disaster and a huge source of stress and tears for me. Tommy and his team took it all in stride and transformed it with precision.  I smile now when I look at the walls and that is purely due to Tommy, Brian and Louis.
    Additionally, they were very accommodating with the time constraints we imposed. The breaks they took were minimal and they did NOT take any lunch breaks.  The focus was solely on doing the job and doing it to perfection. At the end of each day, everything was cleaned up, made ready for the next day's work and stored. What could have been a very anxiety filled experience proved to be a very relaxing one. Bottom line, because of their professionalism, craftsmanship and expertise, "Always Painting By Tommy" is the only company we will allow to touch our home! We were WOW-ed by the end result.  It was a joy to write them a check for their work.  I would not hesitate to recommend them and look forward to the opportunity to hire them again.  Truly the BEST painters in Hampton Roads.

"I purchased the 3 Room Special from Angie's List for $399 to have my kids bedrooms painted. The house is brand new and has the cheap contractor flat paint on the walls. Steve contacted me within 48 house and we set up a date for him to come view the rooms. After he measured the rooms they were over the square footage. I believe the deal was for 3 13-by-13 rooms. My rooms were 12x16, 12x18, and 10x8, or something close to those dimensions. Steve originally quoted me an extra $80 for the additional square footage, but had no probelm dropping the price down to 50 which was a little more reasonable for me. My husband and I had already primed one of the bigger rooms so he went ahead and painted the ceiling as well in that room for no additional charge, but wanted to charge $150 for the other two rooms. I felt the price was a bit much since the ceiling in the biggest room is small because the walls angle on each side of the room so it's not square. Luckily since the rooms were painted white you really can't tell the ceilings were not painted. I chose to use the paint he recommened which was Sherwin Williams and for a 5 gallon bucket he charged us $120 which I thought was very reasonable. He was 10 minutes early, and ready to get started. I am 100 percent happy with the job he did. He did not make a mess and was very professional. I would definitely use him again based off the price from Angie's list, but the other price he quoted for the ceiling just seemed to be extremely high for the size of the two ceilings.
