"Chris G and John did an excellent job! DB’s Plumbing and Drain is an outstanding company. This job may seem a bit expensive but I ordered 2 higher end toilets and they had to deliver, install, and haul away old toilets. I have also hired them in the past to fix my water heater. "Erik was great to work with, came out on Christmas Eve to give me a (fair!) quote and said the work could be started the day after Christmas. Was very understanding of our urgency of the issue (sewer line clogged with roots). "Very well. The pipe had a pinhole leak in a copper elbow joint and required cutting the pipe, in a confined space, to drain standing water. G**** Miranda did a remarkable job repairing the pipe and an adjacent supply pipe I elected to have repaired in case its joint might leak. Workmanship was exceptional, potential mess and additional Sheetrock damage was minimized, G**** Miranda worked tirelessly for 3 hours and produced a satisfactory repair."

French drains may fail when they become clogged with soil granules that slip through the pores of the landscaping fabric and through the holes in the pipe.

The P-trap (or S-trap in older homes) under your shower is designed to prevent sewer gas from coming back up, so you shouldn’t normally experience foul odors coming from your shower drain. If you do, the vent stack that introduces air into your plumbing system may be clogged, or you may have a more severe sewer main blockage. In either case, hire a plumber to fix the issue for you.

There are a few reasons your snake won’t go down the floor drain. One common reason is a large obstruction in the drain that is causing a blockage. You can remove any debris you see in the drain before trying to snake it. In addition, the snake might not be long enough to reach the clog, or it might be the wrong diameter.

While hot water might help with a partially frozen drainpipe, it is unlikely to thaw a completely blocked water pipe further down the system. Additionally, boiling water can damage plastic pipes over time. Safer and more effective methods include using a space heater near the frozen section or applying hot towels directly to the pipe.
