On the unfinished side of the basement, this was no big deal to clean up. On the finished side the clean-up caused me to discover that we probably had a history of years of water leaking in from the window well and the cove joint. Yes, I?m a little slow uploading this review, but better late than never. The reasons we decided to go with All Aspects was the professionalism of the estimator; the price; and the fact that both my wife and I did not have to be at the appointment. I was frustrated with the two other companies, (which I will not dime out) whom we contacted for estimates. Both of these companies( who we did not chose) insisted that both/all owners needed to be there ? ugh! So this was a fairly major project as it involved jack-hammering a roughly 2' wide and 3? deep ( to the footers) trench around the almost the complete perimeter of the basement of our Colonial?s basement , drilling pressure relief holes in the foundation walls, installing drain mats along the walls and installing a ~5\" diameter tile drain line in the trench feeding the new sump. We also installed window-well drains that tied into tile drain. The crew chief also recommended tying our air conditioner condensation drain into the new tile drain. This was awesome, as it got rid of a hose that was formerly draining the A/C water into our floor drain. The jack hammering and dirt removal took the better part of a day, followed by the rest of work ? about four days total. We also have a four-season porch that a previous owner in the distant past, made the lower level into a basement-shed (not connected to the house?s basement) when they converted in from a screened-in porch to a four-season porch. The porch?s basement-shed has always had cove-joint water issue and we took this opportunity to fix the problem now while addressing the water issue in our living space. This turned into a ?small? challenge as we found out the porch is built on a slab versus footers ? so we had to adjust. For a very minimal extra cost (materials only) All-Aspects waterproofed the exterior of the porch basement shed and put in an external ~5? diameter French Drain tied into the sump they replaced in the porch?s basement shed. Everyone involved, from the estimator, to management (special shout out to Nelson and Rusty) and the installation crew was all professional. The work crew were punctual, the crew chief (cannot remember his name) did an outstanding job of both keeping us advised and keeping things moving. They cleaned up nicely both at the end of each day and when the job was completed. All Aspects Waterproofing did an outstanding job for us and I would recommend them for similar work. The guarantees and the transferable \"dry basement certificate\" were pluses, but the professionalism and the quality of the work make the price worthwhile. We selected All Aspects Waterproofing based on Angie's List reviews/recommendations and they proved to be quite accurate."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/md/savage/all-aspects-waterproofing-reviews-2078451.htm"},"position":6},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"VA","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Elizabeth V."},"reviewBody":"opened drain by breaking pipe "},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/va/springfield/roto-rooter-plumbing-and-water-cleanup-reviews-7896334.htm"},"position":7},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Steinhorst Plumbing Inc","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"VA","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Mitchell S."},"reviewBody":"Two employees came when scheduled to assess a possible issue with a floor drain from the laundry room to the main drain. I ended up not needing immediate service and was able to have them come out the next day. They came out as planned, explained the service to my adult son and then to me on the phone. They performed the service and informed that to enforce the one year warranty provided I would need to have a camera inspection (at no charge) and I would need to be present to confirm the drain was properly cleaned out. Those camera appointments were only available at 9am, noon, and 3pm. I made a 3pm appt and took off work early. They were about an hour late to the appt but it was because they were delayed in completing another job. The camera inspection was good and the drain was very clean so overall I was pleased. However, part of the camera inspection was a sales pitch for a drain liner as a \"preventive measure\". The claim was that this would prevent a future requirement to dig up the yard and install a new pipe. However, I could see through the inspection that the pipe was in excellent shape and pointed that out to the inspector. It's valid that this might prevent a future problem but I felt that the main reason for the inspection to \"validate\" the warranty was to sell additional plumbing work ($6000+). I gave a B grade because of the cost which I felt was a little high and because of the attempt to sell more services during the inspection. The work itself was A work. I said I wouldn't use them again because there is not an option for maybe. I may use them again because of the quality of the work and the follow through. However I would get estimates from other companies for drain cleaning first to know what the competitive pricing for this services is. I did not do this because it originally was an emergency and this company was the only one who I called that could come out. When it didn't end up being an emergency I should have done more research but I had already scheduled them to come out."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/oh/dayton/the-problem-solvers-llc-plumbing-heating-cooling-reviews-308452.htm"},"position":10}]}

"I highly recommend DES! I arranged a consultation after a home inspection report indicated that there was moisture in our basement walls. I was worried that costly mitigation efforts would be required. A friend who had previously used DES for a basement water problem highly recommend them, telling us that they were an honest company that only does what is necessary to solve a problem. Happily, Mark Fine from DES inspected both our basement and our exterior grounds and reported that there was no indication of cracks in the foundation or water intrusion, and that no work needed to be done. It is so refreshing to have a company that doesn't try to sell expensive services when they are not necessary!"

"Needed to replace a 25+ year old HVAC system in the coldest months of the year, so I contacted Advanced Environment Solutions for a bid. I worked with Tammy at AES to schedule the inspection, follow-up, etc. - a fantastic employee. Courteous, professional, and really knows her stuff when it comes to HVAC. Unfortunately, I live in a condo with a tricky indoor/outdoor HVAC set-up that ended up requiring a fairly specific indoor unit that AES did not offer, so I had to go with another company. Still I felt compelled to leave a review for AES and Tammy to highlight their professionalism and service-oriented approach. WiIll absolutely consider AES for future projects."

"I’ve been a loyal Snell customer for years, but this recent experience was deeply disappointing. After our AC failed in August, Snell diagnosed a leaking evaporator coil. We chose to replace the system through them, and the salesperson took time to evaluate the setup in advance. However, on installation day, the crew arrived without the correct ductwork and had to make adjustments on the fly. Unfortunately, the adjustments were poorly executed: • The Aprilaire humidifier was mounted on sloped ductwork rather than a level surface, contrary to manufacturer specifications. • The hole for the humidifier was cut inaccurately. • The drain line was left kinked in multiple places. Aprilaire support later confirmed the humidifier was not installed correctly and warned this could lead to water backing up into the system — a concern I had raised with the installers before they left. Despite multiple follow-up attempts, I received no meaningful response. I was told my concerns would be escalated, but no one followed through. This was a major investment, and I now feel I need to bring in another HVAC team to correct issues that should have been resolved from the start. I’ve recommended Snell in the past, but I can’t in good faith do so now after this experience."

FAQs for drain cleaning projects in Arlington, VA
On average, a plumber will take 30 minutes to two hours to clear a clogged drain. If the clog is located close to the drain or an access point and isn’t severe, the project will take about half an hour. If the clog is deep within your plumbing system or is a severe blockage, it can take two or more hours to remove the clog. For this reason, main line clogs tend to take longer, usually between two and three hours.
It’s possible to snake minor drain clogs yourself, provided they sit within a foot or two of the drain itself, but it’s usually best to hire a professional plumber regardless. Even experienced DIYers have a high chance of accidentally pushing the clog further into the drain using a drain snake or another tool, so hiring a plumber is the ideal course of action. A professional plumber can use camera equipment to locate and identify the clog, and remove the entire blockage to fix your issue permanently.
In most areas, drain cleaning professionals don’t technically need a license, as they aren’t altering your plumbing system in any way. However, we recommend hiring a drain cleaning professional with a plumbing license and certification. Certified plumbers are more likely to provide professional solutions to drain clogs without damaging your system. They’ll also have the diagnostic tools and experience necessary to remove the clog entirely rather than providing a temporary solution, as a handyperson might. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to check your plumber’s professional licenses before hiring.
Applying drain cleaner is a common DIY solution to clogged drains, but it can be extremely harmful to your pipes and lead to corrosion and leaks. It is almost always better to try snaking a clog than using a drain cleaner, but the best solution is to hire a professional plumber. They can locate the clog and gauge the severity using a camera system and then decide if using a plumber’s snake, auger, or drain cleaner is the best option to remove the clog and limit damage to your plumbing system.
The average cost to unclog a drain is around $200, with prices ranging between $110 and $800, depending on the type of drain and the extent of the clog. Hiring a professional to snake the toilet or sink will usually cost between $110 and $275, a bathtub or shower typically costs around $225, and a main line clog can cost between $100 and $800 based on the severity of the clog and how far beyond the access point the clog sits. Since the labor involved varies, most plumbers will charge an hourly rate for drain cleaning.
