"Excellent communication via text and email so you know exactly when your service technician will arrive. Tommy and Duncan were very polite and professional. They looked over the main water shutoff valve that I wanted to replace and then explained what they were going to do and how much it would cost. Completed the work promptly and cleaned up the work site before leaving. I would highly recommend DB's Plumbing and Drain!!"

"Mermaid Water responded quickly to come out and test our water. The lab results indicated that the water was not safe to drink but Mermaid Water was quick to offer solutions and install the system. The water is now clean and safe to drink again, and the quality of work performed by Jay was fantastic. "Very well. The pipe had a pinhole leak in a copper elbow joint and required cutting the pipe, in a confined space, to drain standing water. G**** Miranda did a remarkable job repairing the pipe and an adjacent supply pipe I elected to have repaired in case its joint might leak. Workmanship was exceptional, potential mess and additional Sheetrock damage was minimized, G**** Miranda worked tirelessly for 3 hours and produced a satisfactory repair."

"Charles heads up Ninja Plumbing and quickly answered the call for a clogged kitchen double sink. The root cause was accurately triaged to a backup on the main drain pipe where the two PVC drain pipes connected. With a declogging auger machine, Charles was able to unclog the main drain pipe drain running the full 50ft auger metal line and test the water successfully draining from half full sink of water all in under 60 minutes. Charles' ongoing interaction & communications during the full session of the fix was fairly reassuring versus other contractors who may mind more onlooking from customers for edification."

Drain Cleaning FAQs, answered by experts

In the majority of cases, homeowners insurance will not cover a main sewer line root clog. The reason is that most insurance companies consider tree root damage to sewer lines as common wear and tear, which is also preventable. However, you may be able to buy optional add-on coverage, such as "service line coverage" or "sewer line endorsements," that would protect against root damage to your sewer line.

If your drain doesn’t have metal crosshairs or crossbars, you should use a tub drain extractor. These tools create a grip on the drain so you can turn it using a 1/2-inch ratchet drive, drain key, or wrench. Your drain may not have crosshairs if it's old and broken.

Never pour used motor oil down the drain. Doing so can have serious environmental consequences, including contaminating groundwater, endangering animals, and killing vegetation. It can also clog your pipes, causing backups in your plumbing or the wastewater treatment plant. In most places, pouring motor oil down the drain is illegal, whether you do it in your home or a storm drain.

To get rid of a sewer smell in your crawl space, you’ll have to find the source of the problem. If it has to do with your sewer lines, then repairing the line will help. You may need to make other repairs, like fixing your sump pump or encapsulating your crawl space to reduce moisture. After you make the repair, depending on the issue, you may still need to clean out your crawl space to get rid of the stink.

You may have a clogged gutter. Downspouts can also clog if your gutter collects too much debris. Hire a professional gutter cleaner, and if you still have problems, install a gutter guard (which prevents debris from entering your gutter system) and a downspout extension (which helps drain water further away from your foundation, so it doesn't pool near your house). Follow these tips to keep your gutter downspouts clean.
