"I first got in contact with CoreTrade back in April to install wall sconces in my newly remodeled kitchen and to get a quote to add new wiring for my upcoming kitchen fridge unit. What was supposed to be only one project turned into using them as my main electrical go-to company for multiple projects on my newly purchased home in McLean, Virginia. As a type A customer, I was very pleased with their professionalism, respect of my home and attention to detail. From April through July I happily spent $7,000 on electrical services from switching out over 50 light switches and receptacles, to replacing chandeliers in my kitchen and dining room, fixing a chandelier in my office, installing a chandelier in my guest bedroom, removing wires in the back of my home, installing over 20 brand new LED lights in the gym and laundry room and other upcoming pending projects. I’m extremely picky and meticulous, so to say CoreTrade is the best electrical company in the DMV is no small fret!"

"Called Malone Electrical Solutions because I had a breaker that kept tripping. They came out, diagnosed the problem quickly, and got it fixed. No more issues since then. They explained what was wrong in a way that made sense and the price was reasonable. Good experience overall!"

"We brought in Root to do some major work and they made it look easy. The technicians were friendly and professional and arrived on time... early in fact. We then hired them for some more minor work and they treated it with no less sense of importance than our previous major work. They price they quoted was the price I paid and the kept me informed of what they were doing and my options during the whole process. Super job... as long as we are using electricity, we will use Root. Thanks!"

"I was looking for someone to install two newly purchased Google Nest floodlight cameras and requested quotes from about seven different contractors. After comparing my options, I decided to move forward with Mr. Deepak because his pricing was by far the most reasonable. He came out, completed the installation exactly where and how we wanted it, was respectful and professional throughout the entire process, and got the job done without any unnecessary complications. I’ve already saved Mr. Deepak’s number and will absolutely contact him again for any future electrical projects. Fair pricing, good work, and a straightforward experience from start to finish. Five stars. Highly recommend!"

"Received a call from Parrish Services. We spoke for almost 30 minutes on the phone plus using a video app I was able to stream to him my home heating system. Based on my situation and the current installed oil heating system I would be wasting money trying to change to a new electric system. He indicated the system installed was a top of the line efficient system. After the conversation I let him know I appreciated his honesty and input. That input included having to upgrade electrical panel etc.. Bottom line.. Found Parrish to be honest, bottom line answers yet willing to work with you on what you want done. Thanks Parrish .Services..."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Generally, a ceiling fan should be mounted at least seven feet from the floor in the center of your room with a wall clearance of around 18 inches. If your ceiling is more than eight feet high, it’s recommended by experts that the ceiling fan be mounted around eight to nine feet from the ground. This helps ensure a better quality of circulated airflow.

Stainless steel or aluminum fans are long-lasting and have less air resistance. They are best for outdoor use as their durability helps them withstand unpleasant weather conditions. Their heavy weight requires a stronger motor, which leads to more noise than other blade materials.

Wooden fan blades are a classic, durable option. They are much quieter than metal fans and feature a wide range of styles and finishes to choose from. However, they can be damaged by moisture if not covered with plastic.

Plastic fan blades are lightweight, easy to clean, and versatile. There are various shapes and styles to choose from as plastic is easily molded and dyed. They will also deteriorate slower than other materials as they aren’t as susceptible to humidity and moisture.

There are many types of ceiling fans available, each designed for different spaces and needs. Standard ceiling fans are the most common type and work well in most rooms. Low-profile ceiling fans are better suited for rooms with low ceilings. Smart ceiling fans can be controlled with a smartphone or voice commands. For larger spaces with ceilings between 10 and 25 feet high, large ceiling fans are ideal. Dual-motor fans have two motors to produce more airflow in multiple directions. You can also find energy-efficient or Energy-Star models that can be up to 60% more efficient, as well as fans with built-in lights or retractable blades.

Yes, ceiling fans come with a few other features that help with function, style, and convenience. Multi-speed fans can give you specialized control over the airflow. Consider getting one with an integrated light to save ceiling space. Some ceiling fans come with a remote control that enables you to change direction without climbing a ladder. Of course, you can also consider installing a wall switch to enjoy that convenience.

There are several telltale signs to let you know that your ceiling fan needs servicing or replacement. For instance, if it’s wobbling, rotating too slowly, or if your ceiling fan is making noise such as squeaks, buzzes, and thumps, it’s time to have it looked at by a professional. Not only may it indicate a potential problem with the fan itself, but it could also signal a red flag that it’s improperly assembled or there’s an issue with the wiring.
