"Yes,Roger Heating and Cooling did a excellent job.Not only did they install new heat pump and new furnace,.Men were courtesy and polite, showed respect for my home by wearing covers over their shoes. They explain the process of what they had to due. They answered any questions I had about installation. I had no idea that the process would be so smooth. I truly appreciate this company, from first day that representative came out. Too look at what need to be done to replace my systems. Thank them for email follow-up until day came to installation, and email after job was completed. It only took 4 hours for installation.I recommended this company too all my friends and family.Thank you so much too Roger Heating and Air.I would rate this company with 1,000 percent. As the completed of job they cleaned up their mess inside and outside."

"Allen and Justin (Blacksburg location) did their work late on a Friday afternoon without any complaints. They were efficient and I felt like they were honest in their assessment and repair advice. They walked me through almost everything and gave advice on how to extend the water heater life."

"Tim did a great job with the replacement of our water heater. Even though it was the day after Thanksgiving he moved some of his other appointments around to come to our home that afternoon. Tim and his assistant were careful to put on shoe covers in the house and to observe COVID 19 precautions. The job required more complicated plumbing since we have a desuperheater loop from our geothermal heat pump that connects to the water heater; the additional charge for this work was minimal. Tim was here until after 5:00 that evening, with the result that we had hot water over the weekend."

"I used them for so many years. They did my spring, summer and fall maintenance. I had water leaking in the basement for weeks and they could not figure out the problem. I had a friend come out and he figured out the problem. That is why I do not use them anymore."

"The yearly service works out to be $50 a month. We've had two water heaters replaced through them because of a fault in them. They're usually very responsive. I like that I can request the service online. The only thing is, I wish that there was a better avenue for emergency services. If something doesn't work right away usually it takes a couple of days to get someone out and sometimes you can't wait two days without water."

Water Heaters questions, answered by experts

Basements, specifically those without any air conditioning, are the best location for a hybrid water heater. These rooms are less likely to experience extreme temperature fluctuations, which can affect your hybrid water heater’s efficiency and performance. Basements often have more than enough space for their tanks and proper air circulation. Hybrid water heaters can also be a bit noisy, but putting them in your basement will keep the noise away from your main living areas.

Gas water heaters last between eight and 12 years on average. You can help them reach their maximum lifespan with regular cleanings, maintenance, and professional checkups, though don’t hesitate to swing for a full replacement if the total cost of repairs is greater than that of purchasing and installing a new unit.

Signs your electric water heater is failing include inconsistent water temperature, reduced hot water supply, longer heating times, or discolored water (rusty or cloudy). Unusual noises like popping or rumbling suggest sediment buildup, while leaks or corrosion around the tank signal structural damage. If your unit is over 10 to 15 years old and experiencing frequent issues, it may be time to replace it.

Typically, only a high-efficiency water heater with an inducer fan can be vented outside the house. Otherwise, your water heater needs to be installed on the inside and vented through the roof. However, certain areas may allow a standard-efficiency water heater to be vented outside. Check your local building codes to be sure.

Yes, a heat pump water heater can work in colder climates but it’s much more effective where it’s warm. The reason is that the heat pump needs ambient warmth in the air to compress. The less warmth, the more compression required, thus using more electricity and offsetting the energy-efficient benefits.
