"Top Dawg replaced roof on both home and garage. Replaced soffit and fascia. Owners are professional and pricing is reasonable and true to the estimate. The crews were extremely skilled, hard working and dedicated to doing the job right. They left the job site clean, with all debris removed. We would recommend Top Dawg Exteriors to anyone looking to have their roofing replaced."

"Guys came out within two days of calling them out. They replaced some shingles that had blown away and did a quick inspection of the roof. With a recent rain storm we noticed another leak and gave them a call. They came back out the same day I called and did a quick inspection and noticed what the problem was and fixed it as well."

"George, Jon and crew were very helpful and I am very happy I selected Modern Renovations from other qualified installers. The crew worked on a windy day with 25mph gusts and 30 degree temps. I watched the entire process being on the roof several times and am impressed with their skills and the care they took with the entire job."

Roofing FAQs, answered by experts

A chimney cap costs about $300 on average to install, with prices ranging from $75 to $1,000. The final cost depends on several factors, including the professional you hire, the accessibility of your chimney, the cap's material and size, whether any repairs are needed, and if it requires custom fabrication. Chimney caps are usually made from galvanized steel, stainless steel, or copper. Copper caps are the most expensive, followed by stainless steel and then galvanized steel. Excluding labor, average material costs are around $100 for galvanized steel, $250 for stainless steel, and $600 for copper. You may also face additional costs, such as hiring a chimney sweep to clean the chimney before the cap is installed.

Though roof coatings can last up to two decades, it’s a good idea to recoat your roof every four to six years. This is especially important if you have a built-up roof, which is vulnerable to moisture issues. Inspect your built-up roofs annually to make sure they don’t need a new coat.

The best material to sheath a roof will depend on your budget and if you require the strength of more robust materials. For most homes, the added strength is unnecessary, and oriented strand board, or OSB, makes sense. It’s inexpensive and robust enough for most roof types. Another popular but slightly more expensive option is plywood.

Roofing replacements and repairs expose the interior of your home to the elements. Failing to protect these areas during inclement weather can cause extensive damage and job delays. Have a conversation with your pro to learn their plans to use tarps, plastic sheeting, or other waterproofing methods to keep your home safe. Also, ask whether your pro will inspect your home during rain or snow to ensure the covering works.

Yes, but it won't be as effective as installing it as part of a new roof because it won't be as water-resistant. However, a drip edge installed after the fact is better than no drip edge at all.
