I do wish they had been more upfront about the DC law that requires animal removed from homes to be exterminated because of potential rabies. I was initially advised, when I asked where the animals were taken, that they would be taken to Virginia. I assumed they were released and that assumption was not corrected. I should have asked for an explicit yes or no. However, I had seen rabies-related behavior in more than one of the raccoons which is why I decided to have them removed by a private contractor. DC Animal Control will not remove animals until they see signs of rabies. They have an officer on night duty who looked over the back fence to see if they could spot a raccoon/s and monitor behavior. However, the likelihood of the officer and the raccoon being within sight is very slim. I do understand that moving potentially rabid animals from one part of the region to another doesn't make any sense. Sadly, the only solution seems to be extermination as the District Animal Control will not capture and test animals living on private property (unless they have evaluated rabid behavior) leaving the owner responsible for monitoring animal behavior and ensuring the safety of those who live and visit their home. I was very pleased with the job done by JL Tree Removal Service. They were very professional, reasonable in price, arrived on time, and completed the job in about five hours, including removing the stump and overall clean up. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing tree removal....
They clearly knew their animal's tastes and habits. it took about 10 days to get the entire family. They added the extra days beyond the first week's contract at a very reasonable extra price. I do wish they had been more upfront about the DC law that requires animal removed from homes to...
This was the 2nd time I visited the vet for my dog. This is by far one of the best clinics I've been. The price is very reasonable and the staff shows a true love for the animals. They take time to answer any questions you have.
PestNow brand was founded in Virginia in 1995 as Superior Pest Management when four high school friends came together to form their own company. Today, we have multiple locations in three states, and serve thousands of happy customers. We offer pest control; termite treatments and warranties; mosquito, flea & tick control; WDIs (real estate inspections); lawn fertilization & weed control; TAP insulation; and wildlife solutions for homeowners and businesses in the mid-Atlantic.
"PestNow was hired to inspect our house for termites. This was required by the lender of the family buying our house. PestNow found a pile of wood leaning up against a deck column they said needed repair due to termite damage. PestNow also required the entire house be treated. There were no termites found anywhere other than the pile of wood, according to PestNow. They quoted us for over $800 to treat the house. We questioned the need and amount so they lowered it to $580. As a result of PestNow stating they found termites in the deck column, the lender of the buyers required the deck column be repaired due to termite damage. The deck repair company assessed the deck column agreeing it needed to be repaired, but not due to termites, rather moisture. I question whether PestNow found termites at all. Their unethical tactics cost us well over $1,000. Beware of PestNow."

"Don’t waste your money with this firm. They don’t deliver. About a year ago, I was convinced by a salesman of the company that the scratching noises I was hearing in my house were caused by mice roaming around in the walls of the house. I spent over $12,000 and took on a $150 quarterly maintenance plan to get rid of the mice. The company replaced all insulation in my attic and other areas. Also, the company told me they sealed all holes that the mice might use to enter the house. Over the past year, I have complained repeatedly about the mice still roaming around in my house. Most times, an agent would come to the house, look around the outside and place glue traps in areas inside the house. These are amateurish actions I could undertake myself. Recently, I complained by letter to the owner of Century, Mr. Brett Nunn, about my mice problem. Mr. Nunn did not respond to my letter."

FAQs for animal removal projects in Boyce, VA
DIY animal removal is rarely a good idea and is not advised for many reasons. First, these types of animals can carry diseases and, therefore, pose a health risk to you, your family, and your pets if mishandled. Second, depending on your city or municipality, it may be illegal to remove or handle wildlife yourself.
Sealing your home against these animals yourself is also a bad idea. Trapping an animal under your house will cause odor and insect problems when it passes away.
Pest control is not the same as animal removal. Pest control specialists treat for insects and bugs, often by using chemicals. Animal removal specialists try to avoid chemicals if possible and instead work to trap and move the animal that's causing problems.
Since each expert has their own removal methods, it's best to contact a pest control professional for insects and bugs and an animal control specialist for other animals.
Animal removal specialists specialize in removing critters and wildlife from in and around your home. These include:
Bats
Birds
Groundhogs
Moles and voles
Opossums
Mice and rats
Raccoons
Skunks
Squirrels
The specialist's method to remove these critters will depend on the animal. For example, groundhogs will be live-trapped and relocated, whereas, for birds, the expert will remove and discard the inactive nest and sanitize the area.
You might be tempted to call your local municipality to remove animals from your property, such as a groundhog burrowing in your yard or raccoons getting into your trash cans. However, they typically only remove domestic animals like dogs and cats from properties, or sick and injured wildlife that pose a public safety risk or health threat, such as a rabid animal. They typically do not capture or remove healthy wildlife.
Animal removal professionals have the tools, knowledge, and skills to trap and remove wild animals adequately and humanely. They also can relocate them correctly.
Professional animal removal costs between $200 and $600 for average homeowners. However, depending on the type and number of critters removed, this cost could range from $85 to $1,400.
This cost does not include the cost of home damage caused by the animal, which could be as low as $300 for minor drywall repair or as much as $15,000 for crawl space cleaning and restoration.
