"I had power go out in my room, I call Just Better Home Services, they were quick to respond and send an electrician out. They ended up charging me $441 for several hours of troubleshooting. and I still did not have power in my room. They did quote me over $3000 to run new circuits to 2 of my rooms. I had another electrician come out a few days later. He found the issue in less than 30 minutes and charged me significate less. I do not recommend Just Better Services electrician services."

"I do not have words to describe the rudeness and unprofessionalism I experienced working with Solutions Mechanical & Plumbing. First, the plumber and his apprentice were completely rude and seemed disgruntled by the idea that they had to fix unforeseen (but common) issues with the toilet replacement. They made disparaging comments about our house, even after we told them it was a fix-up job inherited from a deceased parent. They arrived at our homes maskless despite the pandemic and pretended to not be sure if they had masks on hand to wear. It was only after offering them spare masks of our own that they reluctantly put on theirs. After arriving, they sat in our driveway having breakfast before getting to work. The apprentice repeatedly summoned us with commands and was on his phone throughout the process. He also may or may not have smeared gum on the bumper of our car on the way out. Finally, they accidentally broke an expensive glass shelf in our bathroom, took the shelf with them, and then attempted to replace it with a poorly shaped and uneven, very cheap shelf. They refused to replace it with an equivalent shelf. When we contacted the headquarters to complain about this behavior, they provided excuses for the apprentice and the plumber and treated us with absolute disdain and rudeness. They went as far as to claim that "they don't wear masks where they're from" - not sure where they could be from that isn't also legally required to wear masks during a global pandemic. I will never work with them again and I strongly advise you to seek help for your needs elsewhere."

Water heaters seldom ever burst, but when they do, you should know the warning signs to protect your home. The biggest sign that your water heater is about to burst is a sulfuric smell. If your home inexplicably smells like rotten eggs, then this could be an indication of a gas leak in your gas water heater. Venting a gas water heater out of the roof is preferable in most cases. Heated exhaust gases naturally rise, so a vertical vent pipe is efficient. If you go through a wall, you may need to add a fan to ensure a successful expulsion of the gases outdoors.

Choosing between an electric water heater vs. a gas water heater comes down to personal preference. Overall, electric heaters are more energy efficient than their gas competitors. They’re also quieter to operate, take up less room, and don’t come with a risk of gas leaks. 

The downside is that electric water heaters cost more to operate than gas. They might also struggle to heat water fast enough for households that use large amounts of hot water. Lastly, a power outage could cause your electric water heater to stop working, whereas gas water heaters may still function.

It is very difficult and dangerous to install your own water heater, so we strongly recommend against tackling this as a DIY project. Not only will you need to wire your water heater, but you’ll also need to connect plumbing to the intake and outlet. Sweating copper pipes and connecting wiring properly are skills most DIYers don’t have, and even if you do feel confident you can do it, working with water and electricity always leaves the potential for electrocution. Hiring a local water heater installer is well worth the investment.

Water heater replacement costs around $1,300, but a total install will depend on a few factors. Solar heaters can cost upward of $3,700, while conventional gas heaters may cost less than $1,000. Tankless water heaters, common in apartments and homes without much space, cost around $2,600 to install.
