"We hired Wow 1 Day for 2 separate projects and each one was high quality work with professional service and communications. The first was after we had a flood and needed to get our basement painted after water remediation. The second time we use the company to repaint our entire house. They were great helping with color consultations. We let our kids have some say over there rooms but the company was great in helping with that process. "Bottom Line: This is the second time using Manor Works, although the first time for carpentry. I hired them based primarily on previous excellent work on external painting of home, including complicated faux painting. Unfortunately, for carpentry they suffered from a serious quality control problem, and I would not use them again in this capacity. Communication: Scheduling the initial estimate was easy and timely, while communications continued throughout the process. Scoping Work: This is probably the most important first step in any project and often either messed up or purposely inflated. I needed pre-painted crown molding installed in one room. We requested professional-level carpentry to absolutely minimize any gaps between molding joints, the ceiling, and the walls – essentially a caulkless project. With the various angles in the walls and ceiling, we knew some tricky detailed cuts were going to be required. Quality of work. Frankly, 75-80% of contractors fail here for three primary reasons: a horrible handoff of details from the estimator to the onsite project foreman, project foreman and/or workers making assumptions vice asking the customer, and lack of quality detailed work. All three seemed to have come into play on this project. I knew I had a problem when the contractor asked me for the caulk. Because some boards were cut short and some angles were imprecise, there was a good amount of misalignment between boards and serious gaps between the board and the wall. In the third image, the corner of the board is broken out, and the carpenter wrote on a portion of the finished wall. That wall was painted in a textured, two-tone, faux appearance that takes time and expertise. It's not a simple paint this spot touchup. Due to the dark color of the trim, some of the joint misalignments I could hide with detailed painting and very precise and limited caulking, but the areas where it was chipped out and some of the wall gaps , especially where you can look up and see the nails going through, had to be completely replaced - meaning new crown molding, sanding, priming, painting, cutting, and nailing — both time and money for me. I realize this work can be challenging when the walls are at various angles. It's meticulous and takes a great deal of patience and care. I do my own baseboard, shoe molding, and short runs of crown, so I know it could have been done better than this. A previous contractor recently did it better in our powder and mud room. Pricing: Price was the best of three highly ranked Angie’s List companies, but in this case, you really do get what you pay for. It was very disappointing"

"Marvin and his team were true professionals through and through. We had a four day job that included repainting an entire interior of a house on three levels and exterior doors and shutters. Marvin was super willing to work with us on our colors, the actual painting team were all very friendly and spent the time to expertly apply the paint to all areas. At the end of everyday the team would walk through with us to show us the progress and see our thoughts on the quality. For an entire house there were almost no touch ups required and when we didn’t like a color of a certain room, they gladly repainted when we asked. We couldn’t have chosen a better company to come paint our home, we would recommend paint the DMV to anyone who wants a professional job done!"

"The three person team was a disaster. They appear to have been a subcontractor. Although they showed up with one day notice (great), the work went rapidly downhill. I recommend that Angie's List remove them from the Super Saver list. First they relocated all of the furniture to the unprotected porch despite a forecast of rain and snow. We moved some of the light furniture to the garage and had them move the rest to protect it. The real disaster came when they replaced the furniture. They gouged our newly refinished hardwood floors in several places, including the middle of the room where everyone can see. Moreover, when replacing the furniture, they got paint on the coffee table and piano because they moved the furniture through recently painted doors that had not dried. Second, we had contracted for a ceiling repair but dropped that since we could not clear the room for them to work. The original bid was for three days work time. But even after dropping this big piece of work, they took four days to complete the job and were so rushed on the last day that the quality totally fell apart. They took their time for the first three days, including long lunch periods (more than 1 hour) and short workdays (6-7 hours) and then did not have time to complete the work with any quality. The stair risers have drips where the paint ran down. Third, they painted an outside garage door without properly preparing the surface. As a result, the paint is already peeling. Also, they painted the door on the coldest day which didn't help adhesion. Fourth, the wallpaper removal was successful and they did a decent job of painting the walls, which is why they received a D not an F for quality. but there were paint drops on the floor and trim. In other areas, there were paint drops on the carpet. Fifth, they did a terrible job of cleaning up. They used our utility sink, but did not clean out the paint from the bottom. Since we use this sink for laundry, the paint residue is a big issue. They left the unused paint cans with the rollers in them. Imagine what that paint will look like after the rollers sit for several months or years. There was a big paint spot on the front porch, which wasn't even part of the paint job."
