"I appreciated that Brandon worked with my schedule to figure out a date to come and clean my air vents and dryer vent. He was easy to talk to on the phone to work out what needed to be done in my home and how much it would cost. He and his guys were easy to work with in person and cleaned everything we agreed on in a timely manner. We would have him come back again."

"Daniel was so quick Ingels to respond and flexible with our schedule. Our new home has settled and had so many little quirks and things needed to be fixed and he was so knowledgeable about all of them. He fixed her door and is in the garage so they would automatically swing close, fixed the grout and cracking in the master bathroom. he also hung crazy heavy mirror and made sure that it was super safe and secure. The biggest task of all is I had some antique skis and snow shoes needed to be home and was not a normal job but he was so smart trying to configure away to keep them secure, and not damage the antiques. You could totally tell that he takes pride in his work and works to do things the right way. Which I totally appreciate. I would hire him over and over again. I will recommend him to all my family and friends."

Dryer Vent Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Dryer vents commonly need to be replaced every one to three years. This will depend on the rate at which you dry loads, how often you clean your vent, and what type of vent you have. For instance, regular care will prolong the life span of most options, while aluminum foil vents may need to be replaced more frequently with or without regular maintenance.

Using less toilet paper is the easiest way to prevent future clogs. Also, avoid flushing sanitary products, thick paper towels, or hair down the toilet. If you’ve been using a brick in the tank to reduce the water used to flush the toilet, take it out immediately. Bricks will eventually fall apart and clog your toilet drain. Keeping your toilet lid closed also helps avoid future clogs.

The average cost of a dryer vent ranges from $100 to $300 for the various models, but that price doesn’t include installation. If you're hiring a pro, the labor cost to install a dryer vent will be an additional $20 to $35 per hour. The job takes roughly two to four hours, so that’s an extra $40 to $140 altogether.

The length of an allowable dryer vent varies based on the local building codes and regulations. Typically, the maximum range is 25 to 35 feet. However, if the vent must have any 90-degree turns, you may see a reduction of five feet from the maximum. Some municipalities may have no specific maximum allowable length as part of the code. Typically, installers will run the vent over the shortest possible distance for safety. The dryer vent cleaning cost is less with a shorter vent length as well.

It’s possible to clean your dryer vent yourself in most cases, but it’s usually best to leave this important task to a professional. If you make a mistake when reinstalling the vent, you could kink it, which makes it easier for a blockage to form. Instead, call in a professional annually to do a thorough cleaning and an inspection. They will make sure there are no kinks in the vent that could promote blockages in addition to cleaning it. If your vent runs through a wall, you’ll need help from a professional regardless.
