Tankless Water Heater - Install
We had used Barlow Service Experts for some time and had generally good experiences, but our recent water heater replacement was very disappointing. When our old unit flooded the basement, the sales rep, Nicholas Allphin, assured us we could do a payment plan for a new tankless heater. He was polite and professional, but would swipe past all of the verbiage on his tablet straight to the signature block, repeatedly reassuring us of what it said and that it was a payment plan. Months later, after repeatedly asking for payoff information, we learned it was actually a lease that would cost nearly double what we were quoted. We felt completely misled and taken advantage of, and it was incredibly frustrating to realize the truth only after months of trying to get answers. This felt dishonest and manipulative. If you still choose to use them, be very cautious and double-check everything they do and say, because there?s a good chance they could be doing the same thing to you.

Hard to tell if some of these companies are the same. Mountain West Service Experts installed my new furnace a few years ago and it went well. Recently AC quit working. I called who I thought was the same co to check my AC a few weeks ago. Same logo, still called Service Experts, sales assoc Rustyn Smith. My Uncle is an AC expert in Ohio. Asked him for advice. He suggested a service call. Service Experts came next day. Told me I needed new capacitors that they could not get until next day for $600 total but recommended a new condenser unit at $6500 to $11000. I knew that was nonsense. Called another - Black Diamond Experts. They quoted $4200 for 16SEER to $5500 for 18SEER for new condenser, A coil, piping, freon, etc - much more professional, objective and I'd recommend if you're in this situation. Called my uncle back, bought new capacitors for $50 and installed myself in 30 minutes. Only value in MW Service Experts $89 service call was to tell me the compressor was likely ok. AC has been working fine for several weeks now. Always get three quotes or fix it yourself. Most household appliances have been designed and made the same for 30 to 50 years now and are very similar in design and made for ease of repair. Try to fix it yourself! Youtube is also very handy for tips. AC condenser (outside unit) minor repairs are easy. If you have to start dealing with coolant/freon leaks, hire a pro. If you have to deal with gas lines (furnace) hire a pro. Always get three or more quotes.

The technician showed up with a second guy whose sole job seemed to be high pressure sales to get me to replace my furnace and AC. After the second guy left the technician also spent a lot of time also trying to get me to replace my furnace and AC. I told him to just replace the blower and signed up for two pre-paid maintenance visits to receive a discount on the blower motor. The blower was replaced quickly and has worked well for the last 6 months. The technician that did the first maintenance visit was professional and diagnosed the problem my Nest had been warning me about. 6 months later I got the second maintenance done. As far as I know, the technician did a fine job. Seemed much less experienced than the one that did my furnace visit. A second person showed up and I expected another round of high pressure sales but he went straight to helping the first technician. No sales pitch this visit. After they left, however, I noticed something that really rubbed me the wrong way. There were stickers from previous HVAC companies (the two companies that installed the furnace and AC). They had carefully scraped away just the part of the stickers that identified these companies (the names and contact information). I had no intention of contacting these companies. I'd never done business with them (the previous homeowner did) but still, it was a very petty act of vandalism and completely unnecessary since they already had my business.

Two service men arrived on time and were reasonably professional. They initiated the water softening cycle and it started up. It started through a cycle. They coached me on the various buttons and discussed what was happening. However, there was no improvement in the results. Perhaps the salt had bridged, preventing progress, or something was going on that prevented softening the water. Since the cycle takes about 1 1/2 hours, the lead service person left his phone number and I called him to report no result. He acknowledged that something else may be wrong, but offered no other help. I still have no resultant water softening; they did the service call, but no discernible result, or recommendation

It was good. It was done immediately after the purchase. Because my water heater is fairly new, there were some of things included in the deal that were not done. I understand. I would have felt comfortable if he had done that.

It was ok. The provider agreed to a time after work, then called and tried to move the time to an earlier hour, which didn't work. Even after that, he showed up early. He didn't do much except tell me that I need a new water heater. The estimate for the water heater seemed high.

Extremely well - A+ service! The technician, Christian, was very knowledgeable about HVAC equipment. Upon arrival, he wasted no time and set about to remedy our hot situation. He diagnosed the problem within minutes after arrival and replaced the faulty capacitor in no time. While he was waiting to see if the capacitor was functioning properly, he did a full inspection on the HVAC unit to make sure it was in proper running condition (no other problems). I then asked Christian if he would inspect my other HVAC unit as I had mentioned that there was excess water leaking out of it and was considering servicing it. He was just going to diagnose the problem but then found that the excess water was due to a clogged pvc drain. He removed the dead mouse and other blockage so the water started draining properly again. Problem solved! This made a huge impression on me as we had had this unit serviced just last year and the technician from that company never even inspected that section of the HVAC. I am very impressed with Mountainwest Service Experts and want to thank them for sending Christian to my home. He allowed me to follow him around as he performed the service and patiently answered all my questions as he performed the service. I will definitely hire Mountainwest Service Experts again the next time we need service!
