"Once I purchased the deals on Angie's list, I received an email and and a phone call to schedule my work the same day. I had two visits booked for that Friday (which was great for scheduling, since I had to take time off work.) The AC person (EJ) came around 10 am, and wrapped up just before the plumber (Dale) came. The faucet replacement was probably the toughest, but he handled it like a champ. I would recommend Manwill, and I'm considering purchasing a water softener from them in the near future. Both people were friendly and professional."

"Khaing did a wonderful job installing my tankless water heater and water softener. Alma provided great customer service regarding my two showers. He really helped me in fixing one shower and advising me the best way to manage my other shower. I really appreciate all they did for me. Everything is working perfectly."

"I called Salt City Plumbing on a Saturday at 3PM to request a replacement for a water heater. I spoke with Josh Fuit and he immediately dispatched David Lloyd to pick up a water heater from Standard Plumbing. Mr Lloyd arrived at my house within one hour! Mr. Lloyd finished installing the new water heater in about an hour. I m so impressed with Salt City Plumbing s quick response to my initial phone call. Mr Lloyd arrived at my house wearing a mask and gloves due to Covid19. You ll be very pleased with Salt City Plumbing."

"I asked for several quotes to put in a water heater. They were very knowledgeable, reasonably priced and respective to my needs and concerns. It was a hard area to replace th heater but didn't charge me extra for removing my soft water unit where other vendors would. Very responsible and easy to work with."

"Upfront Plumbing was a great decision. Took care of my main sewer line issue, involved major excavation and they had it done in three days. Also installed a great water softener that we already love as well as a tankless water heater. Very fair prices and amazing technicians. Highly recommended."

"Ron was the lead worker and he and Jake did a great job!!! They explained everything that they were doing and made us feel very comfortable with the work. It turned out to be much more work than the estimator said because of the small space for the furnace and the fact that I didn't have a return air vent in the basement. They had to move out the water heater to put the furnace in. In addition to that they put PVC pipe from the furnace through the garage out through the foundation to the outside for my return air. It was a very good experience and I plan on using them in the future!!!"

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

The most effective way to fix hard water in your shower is by installing a whole-home water softening system. This system treats water as it enters your home, removing the minerals that cause hardness before they can reach your shower or any other fixtures. While this is the most comprehensive solution, other methods are often temporary fixes. For a more affordable and shower-specific option, you can install a water-softening showerhead or a shower filter. However, these filters are generally less effective and may not remove all the contaminants that lead to limescale and hard water stains. By implementing a water softening solution, you can expect a reduction in mineral deposits and enjoy the benefits of cleaner-feeling hair and skin.

The average cost to install a water softener, including the system and labor, is approximately $1,500. However, the total price can range widely from $600 to $6,000. For some complete systems, the cost may be between $800 and $2,500. Labor for the installation typically costs between $150 and $1,000.

The final price is influenced by several factors, including:

  • System type, capacity, and complexity

  • Home size and household water demands

  • Water hardness levels

  • Accessibility of the installation site and the extent of plumbing work required

  • Whether new electrical work is needed

  • The professional hired and any local permit costs

There are many possibilities for why your shower’s water pressure is low. It might be a simple-to-fix issue like the water valves being partially turned off, a dirty showerhead or hose, leaks in the plumbing, or an old showerhead. However, low water pressure in the shower could also indicate a larger issue with your home’s plumbing system.

It depends on the type of surface. For instance, if you’re trying to get rid of hard water deposits on glass, you can spray vinegar onto the surface and wipe it off with a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge. However, if the deposits are on granite or natural stone, it’s better to use baking soda and water rather than vinegar or other acidic cleaners.

Experts recommend that you put two to four bags of potassium chloride in your water softener every month. This amount depends on how much is in the bag (40 pounds is most common) and what your water softener manufacturer recommends. For more specific advice, talk to a water softener pro in your area and read the manual that came with your system.
