"David was highly recommended by Austin Gutter King. We needed our fascia upgraded before having rain gutters installed on our house. He gave us a great estimate and was able to schedule us in a timely manner. He and his crew were very meticulous with attention to detail. He also pointed out some other issues we were having with our siding and chimney. He explained the issues and the proper way to fix them. His workmanship was so good we had him do quite a bit of remodeling on the back of our house where a previous deck had caused water damage to our frame. David is a great carpenter with many other skills as well. All of that and a great personality, he has the full package. We would recommend him highly if you are considering his services."

Glass Block questions, answered by experts

New glass costs anywhere from $3 to $100 per square foot. More specifically, tempered and insulated glass—a common option for sliding glass doors—costs between $10 and $14 per square foot.

You can still see vaguely into some types of glass block windows at night. Although there won’t be clear definitions, passersby may still see shapes, shadows, and movement through the glass. If you want complete privacy, consider installing diamond glass block windows rather than the typical clear or wavy glass blocks.

Regular cleaning with non-abrasive cleaners helps prevent buildup and maintains clarity.

Options include tempered, laminated, and tinted glass for various needs.

Glass block mortar is the best choice for glass block window units. It is specifically formulated for glass block window installation. Glass block mortar is usually a mixture of Portland cement, sand, and special chemicals. It is a white mortar that is applicable inside and outside your home. Do not use regular tile mortar because it may not have the binding strength and flexibility required for glass block windows.
