"They did a great job replacing the double pane glass in 10 windows that had lost their seal and were leaking/fogged up. The guys were very professional, reasonably priced and completed the job in a very timely fashion. I would highly recommend you use these guys for any window glass replacement needs you might have."

"When a landscaper accidentally shattered the exterior panel of my full light front door, I reached out to more than a dozen businesses to see about repairs. Glass Worx 512 was THE ONLY BUSINESS THAT COULD ACTUALLY REPLACE THE GLASS. Everyone else said I'd need to replace the entire door. Fransisco was amazing! He was able to come by to examine the work and give me a quote the very same day (he explained that the exterior panel is actually fused to the middle and interior panels), placed the order right away, and completed the installation as soon as he received the order. From first contact to completion, the whole job took just a week- many other businesses couldn't even schedule an assessment for over two weeks from the day a contacted them. Fantastic work Fransisco!"

Glass Block questions, answered by experts

Luckily, glass block windows need minimal maintenance. Other than regular cleaning, the only maintenance involved in having a glass block window is inspecting for cracks every year and applying sealer to the mortar joints if the blocks are set in masonry mortar. Glass block windows hold up well against wind and moisture better than traditional windows and are not prone to rot.

Regular cleaning with non-abrasive cleaners helps prevent buildup and maintains clarity.

Glass block windows aren’t fire hazards; fire-rated glass block windows can increase your home’s fire safety. Modern glass blocks are made with materials that can resist high temperatures and prevent fire spread. Most offer a 45-minute fire rating, while some increase it to two hours. Compared to the typical 20 to 90 minute rating for a double-pane window, glass block can increase your home’s safety in the event of a fire.

You can still see vaguely into some types of glass block windows at night. Although there won’t be clear definitions, passersby may still see shapes, shadows, and movement through the glass. If you want complete privacy, consider installing diamond glass block windows rather than the typical clear or wavy glass blocks.

Glass block installation can be relatively expensive due to the range of material costs and the labor time to assemble this type of specialty window. The process proceeds slowly as the glass does not absorb moisture from mortar and silicone caulk takes longer to harden, leaving spacers to hold up the structure until the caulk or mortar begins to cure. Plus, if your current windows have structural issues or damage, you’ll need to repair them before beginning the project, increasing your bottom line.
