"Crosstown returned my call and scheduled me quickly for structural engineering. Angel was very professional and had my drawings turned around in just a couple of days. He even included a couple of options at my request. Super simple process. Definitely recommend."

"Evergreen Structures provided a thorough and well documented analysis of my structural issue. They listened diligently to my concerns and prior understanding of the issues. They were easy to talk through out the whole process. And they were easy to reach when I had additional questions. Thank’s for your help Billy!"

"Nick and Doug, two really great guys. Nick provided honest feedback and gave a really strong bid, I was impressed with his sales acumen and direct communication. Doug was punctual, communicative, and motivating for his crew, and really seemed to go out of his way to make sure the job was done right. Doug's crew worked their butts off and did an outstanding job, it was probably the most frustrating job the crew has done, a very hard excavating pier and beam job. I really appreciate them, especially in knowing the fact that my home and it's foundation is properly repaired and safe for my family."

"Willie was extremely helpful over the phone and offered to go over to the house and give me an estimate free of charge on the same day we spoke (a Saturday at that!). He's been nothing but responsive, professional and honest regarding what needs to go into fixing our issues with our crawl space."

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

A split-level home is one that has several staggered floors connected by short staircases, while a split floor plan separates the primary bedroom from the rest of the bedrooms. Split floor plans are most often found in single-story homes, while split-level homes are always at least two stories.

Any issue that affects the structural integrity or soundness of a home is considered a structural issue. In addition to foundation cracks, other signs of structural issues include roof leaks, bowing walls, sloping floors, gaps around windows and doors, and more.

Yes, you can build over a stump if the roots are no longer alive. Living roots will continue to grow and may damage your new construction over time. Similarly, you should also remove rotting stumps because they may continue to attract pests and even cause new structures (especially those made from wood) to decompose as well.

No, squeaky floors do not always mean there is structural damage. The noise is often caused by friction from issues like loose floorboards, gaps between the subfloor and joists, or loose subflooring. While many squeaks are harmless, persistent or worsening noise could indicate a more severe problem. If you notice other signs of structural damage—such as soft or sagging floors, cracks running from the wall to the ceiling, or horizontal cracks in your foundation—it's best to have a professional inspect your floor to determine the root cause.

Stone, marble, and brick are common building materials of Neoclassical architecture, though you will also find wood flooring and a range of natural stone tiles. Since several home styles fall under Neoclassical architects' umbrella, a range of building materials—including traditional wood framing—will make an appearance.
