Customers say: Quick response

"I had a great experience with this gutter company. They installed new gutters and a downspout on my home, and the entire process was smooth from start to finish. They arrived on time, communicated clearly, and paid attention to every detail. The workmanship was excellent, and they left my property clean when the job was complete. The new gutters look fantastic and function exactly as they should. It’s hard to find contractors who are professional, reliable, and take pride in their work, but this team definitely does. I highly recommend them to anyone needing gutter installation or repairs."

"Gutter screens were installed on gutters. The price was very good and the screens have a 40 year guarantee from mfg. Berger Home Services have a lifetime guarantee on everything else. Hard to beat. They arrived when expected, removed old gutter covers that did not work and installed the new covers. All gutters were cleaned and minor repairs were made where necessary. They recommended the addition of another down spout to ensure complete drainage on one section that had standing water. So far everything has been great."

"LeafFilter doesn't clean gutters, they sell and install their LeafFilter Gutter products and only clean the gutters if you buy their product. I can't even begin to afford their product so I wasn't able to get my gutter cleaned by them."

Small jobs welcome

"We had the house gutters cleaned out and leaks repaired. We also had our windows cleaned on the outside of the house only. Fish window cleaning showed up on time, went over the work we had requested, and went to work right away. While the worker was here, the company owner came by to check on how things were going. We were pleased with the work and would use this company again."

Gutter Cleaning questions, answered by experts

The kind of gutter guards you have will affect how often you need to clean them. The more basic type of gutter screen requires cleaning once or twice a year. With a micromesh screen, you may be able to extend the time between cleanings to every two years or so.

However, if you have trees near your roof, you’ll need to clean your gutters more frequently, especially if you have chicken-wire or colander-type gutter guards. If you have pine trees near your roof, you may even need to clean your gutters quarterly, as tiny pine needles can get through any type of gutter guard.

Hiring a local gutter cleaner costs an average of $119 to $228. For many homeowners, it’s worth bringing in a pro to make sure there’s a regular cleaning schedule and that the job is done thoroughly. A pro can also inspect your gutters and roofline and flag any issues before you start experiencing costly mold, rot, or water damage.

It is not recommended to clean gutters, or do any work on your roof for that matter, without the use of a ladder. Please make sure you have a spotter and avoid slippery surfaces when performing this task.

Shingle granules can be cleaned out of gutters using a small scoop or a hose, depending on the quantity of granules and how much other debris is in your gutters. First, clear your gutters of leaves and other debris. This may remove granules in the gutters if they are mixed in with the debris. Use a plastic scoop to remove larger quantities of granules or a hose with a high-powered nozzle for smaller amounts, and collect and dispose of the granules once they’ve been removed.

Walking on the roof to clean gutters is unsafe and not recommended due to significant safety risks. It is especially dangerous on steep or slippery roofs, or if the roof is wet or covered in leaves, which increases the chance of a fall. In addition to personal injury, walking on the roof can damage shingles, potentially leading to water leaks. Instead of walking on the roof, use a sturdy ladder positioned on a stable surface to access the gutters. Be aware that using a ladder also carries risks, as it can be difficult to maintain balance while performing the work. You can also use ground-based cleaning tools. For safety reasons and to prevent damage to your roof, hiring a professional to clean your gutters is the best and safest option.
