"This was the second time I have used Advanced Curb Appeal. Both jobs were brick paver patios. I have liked working with the companies owners and installers Jay and Jamison. They insist on quality work and will work with you on any changes you might want made from the original quote. Since it is a small crew working on the project it might take them longer but it is well worth the wait.

"We had approximately 2 acres of land in Spring TX for 2 years planing in building a new house .. We didn't had the right budget to begin to build a new home. We have got this company information form some of my friends and we called
them to receive an estimate.. They gave us a good price and the advice  us as they do help with loan approval drowning and design. Afterwords we decided to go with them and we ended very happy for the result we have now it took a little longer then we expected but finally we can move in to a new house.
Thanks Nicolas!"

"Generally, I don’t write reviews and skeptical with who I do business with when I need work done on my home. I contacted BuildTechz and asked them for before and after photos for various jobs they performed in the past. I can honestly say, I was impressed with the workmanship. Initially, I spoke with Harold, who was very professional, knowledgeable and took his time to explain what was required to complete the job. This is what really sealed the deal for me! There were some shingles that needed to be replaced so as to prevent water from leaking into my home. Harold promptly sent me a quote after a technician examined the issue. The cost was reasonable and I decided to go ahead with the work. The technician was prompt, professional and reiterated what Harold told me over the phone. Overall, I was pleased with their work and will used them again if needed."

"Excellent - I was very pleased with the results. I called Handyman Joe (Jersey Village) and he came by later that day to see what work I needed done and to quote a price. When he saw that the house was open to further damage from the elements he came early the next morning to do the repairs. He finished the job before the end of the day. I totally recommend Handyman Joe and feel he does an excellent job for a fair price."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Concrete is typically the best material for a driveway if you’re looking for longevity, cost-effectiveness, and ease of maintenance. But, it’s not ideal for areas with annual freeze-frost cycles, nor is it the most attractive option—although you can get it stamped or painted. If your location is consistently below freezing, asphalt may be a better choice.

Common alternatives to a gravel driveway include concrete, asphalt, brick, stone pavers, and permeable pavers. Concrete and asphalt are generally the most affordable options. However, concrete can be prone to cracking in cold climates, while asphalt may soften in areas with high heat and direct sun exposure. For enhanced curb appeal, brick, stone, and permeable pavers are popular choices, though their installation can be more expensive due to intricate designs. Stone pavers offer a natural look and are sometimes installed with gravel around them. Both permeable pavers and brick driveways provide excellent drainage, which helps prevent flooding and reduce water runoff.

Several materials are suitable for steep driveways. Gravel and crushed stone are affordable options that provide good traction. Permeable pavers—such as plastic, rubber, or concrete—filled with gravel or crushed stones are also excellent, as they allow water to drain without causing erosion and perform well in ice and snow. Another option is resin, which can be coated with an anti-slip finish and helps prevent puddles. For added stability, you can install a retaining wall to prevent pavers and gravel from shifting over time.

When hiring an asphalt paving contractor to install your driveway, ask as many questions up front as possible. Here are a few questions to ask a prospective driveway contractor:

  • How many years of experience do you have?

  • Are you licensed, bonded, and insured?

  • Do you have worker’s compensation?

  • Do you use subcontractors on your projects?

  • Do you clean up after the job is done?

  • Who is responsible for any damage to lawn or landscaping?

  • Do you provide a guarantee or warranty on your work?

  • Do you give free estimates?

  • What is the timeline for completion?

  • How do you handle change orders?

  • Can you provide at least three references?

  • Can I see some of the work you’ve done?

Driveways should be sloped with a minimum 2% slope—anything lower will cause precipitation and runoff to collect. A 2% slope is the equivalent of a 2-foot rise over 100 feet. One quick way to check the integrity of your driveway’s slope: no more than four inches of water should collect on the surface longer than 15 minutes after rain.
