"GREAT WORK! We have used this company for all our painting needs. Used since 2018. They recently completely redid all my kitchen and utility room cabinets including the island. Went from old stained cabinets to beautiful painted cabinets. They always take great care in taping off and using plastic to cover areas to prevent overspray and unneeded brush marks. Always on time and keep the work area clean. Our house was in terrible condition when we bought it, but with MQ’s help it is now one of the nicest houses in our area. I HIGHLY recommend MQ for all our painting needs, inside and outside!!"

"Platinum Painting was amazing! I needed cabinets painted in my kitchen and they were from the 2000 era (milky white/pink wash). Platinum Painting stripped, stained and finished the cabinets beautifully so they now match our hardwood floors."

"Amazing customer service! We were thoroughly educated on what to expect and the painters didnâ t mind the questions on site when we would ask what was happening. And they went above and beyond helping find an exact stain that we wanted we tried what felt like a million stains and Robertoâ s patience through the process was amazing. We had a crazy timeline to move into our home and these guys moved heaven and earth to finish as quickly as possible! We absolutely love our cabinets and canâ t recommend Dallas Varsity Painting enough!"

"These guys kept me informed. They called when they said they would. They arrived for the job on time with everything they needed to complete the job. They were professional and friendly. They cleaned up all scraps and debris after completion. The gutter look great and worked as planned during the heavy rains that followed. Great job overall!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

The opposite is actually true: Wood stains tend to appear lighter when they’re fully dry. However, stains may darken as they weather and oxidize with age. Stains might also darken on surfaces left in direct sunlight, as UV rays can break down pigment particles and cause them to darken over time.

A wood deck requires annual cleaning and regular inspections for loose or broken boards, nails, and screws. It should be refinished by applying a stain or sealer every two to three years to protect the wood from water damage, rot, mildew, and sun fading. The exact frequency can depend on the climate and the deck's exposure to sun and moisture. If your deck is painted, it will need repainting approximately every 10 years. Signs that your deck needs refinishing include faded, splintering, or warping boards.

Adding a second coat of stain to wood can even out the color to some extent, but it won't drastically alter the hue if the initial application is too light or too dark. It's more effective at enhancing the richness of the color rather than significantly changing it. Ensure the first coat is dry before applying the second.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood to help prevent the boards from cracking. However, you must wait for the wood to dry out completely before applying any finish. Freshly treated wood can take weeks or even months to dry; a common recommendation is to wait three to six months. To check if the wood is ready, perform a simple water test: drip some water onto the surface. If the water beads up, the wood is still too wet and needs more time to dry. If the wood absorbs the water, it is dry enough to be painted or stained. You can proceed with building your deck or fence while the wood is still wet, but you will need to wait to apply the paint or stain.

You’ll need to restrain your deck when you notice fading, cracking, peeling, or mold and mildew over a moderate to large area, or when it’s become especially difficult to clean. As for how often to stain a deck, plan to do it every two to three years or whenever you start to notice extended damage.
