"Painting was done in conjunction with roof and gutter replacement after a hail storm. Work was done quickly and with excellent results. Two years later, the exterior painting still looks great. The fence was stained at the same time and also still looks great. I've used this contractor since and referred him to others. He's really responsive and easy to work with."

"Thomas did an excellent job in sanding, staining , and then three coats of sealer on our front door. He took time making sure that each stage was perfect. You don’t get this type of workmanship these days.. I have no hesitation in recommending him and will choose him whenever I have another project."

"GREAT WORK! We have used this company for all our painting needs. Used since 2018. They recently completely redid all my kitchen and utility room cabinets including the island. Went from old stained cabinets to beautiful painted cabinets. They always take great care in taping off and using plastic to cover areas to prevent overspray and unneeded brush marks. Always on time and keep the work area clean. Our house was in terrible condition when we bought it, but with MQ’s help it is now one of the nicest houses in our area. I HIGHLY recommend MQ for all our painting needs, inside and outside!!"

"Outstanding!

Mr. Greg Pelt, owner of Superior Paintint Company, conducted a thorough inspection of the area of work. Explained in detail the services his company provides including how our job would be accomplished. Greg provided a detailed proposal. On the first work day Greg introduced John, the painter, then explained the job scope in detail.

John and helper Dennis were true professionals. John explained each days objectives along with upcoming goals. All work was carried out in a safe, clean and extremely efficient, effective manner. Any questions were quickly answered. All special requests were accomplished. John ensured all paint and work was done exactly according to our contract. John and Dennis were very friendly, courteous and trustworthy. All expectations was exceeded. Even with our home being two stories John's painting talents enabled him to apply an outstanding finish. He made painting so high appear to be a breeze. Dennis ensured John's safety throughout the project. John's staining work was just as beautiful. In conclusion, Greg's Superior Painting Company will be our go to contactor for all of our future painting projects. We highly recommend Superior Painting Company. Request John be assigned your project. Our twenty year old home now looks brand new thanks to Superior Painting Company. Thank you Greg, John and Dennis for such a great job.

"They came early which is rare for me to experience. The fixed everything as promised and explained what was wrong and that proper leveling and sealing fixed the issues and they touched up with matching paint. Awesome job. Couldn't be happier."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Choosing the right product involves understanding deck material, desired finish, and local weather conditions. Opt for high-quality, weatherproof formulations ensuring long-term durability and appearance retention.

Limewash and whitewash are two techniques used to give brick a light, matte finish, but they differ in composition, application, and permanence. The best choice depends on your aesthetic goals and the specific surface.

Composition

  • Limewash: A natural and environmentally friendly option made from limestone, water, and sometimes pigments. It is breathable and soaks into porous surfaces like brick.

  • Whitewash: Traditionally made from lime, water, chalk, and binders, but a similar look can be achieved with watered-down white paint. It is paint-based and sits on top of the surface.

Appearance and Finish

  • Limewash: Provides a natural, textured appearance that allows the brick's character to show through. It offers a more traditional finish.

  • Whitewash: Creates a softer, more opaque finish, often used for a rustic or shabby-chic style.

Application and Permanence

  • Limewash: Is semi-permanent and can be removed, making it a good choice if you might want to change the look in the future. It requires more skill to apply and cannot be used on previously painted brick.

  • Whitewash: Is a more permanent solution. It is more forgiving to apply and can be used on painted brick. However, because it sits on the surface, it can trap moisture.

Ultimately, if you want a breathable, natural, and reversible finish for unpainted brick, limewash is a great option. If you need a more permanent, opaque coating that can be applied over painted surfaces, whitewash is the better choice. Whitewashing may also be more economical, costing approximately $1.40 to $4.20 per square foot.

There’s no single paint that’s the most waterproof. Instead, there are several types of waterproof and water-resistant paints that suit different purposes. Epoxy paint, for instance, is commonly used to provide a waterproof coating to floors and decks. Masonry paint is an excellent choice for exterior walls. Meanwhile, there are waterproof acrylic paints that can be used for interior and exterior walls. It’s more about choosing the best type for what you’re painting instead of the most waterproof paint overall.

Many decking oils can help slow down algae growth, but they don't completely stop it. These oils work by sealing the wood, which reduces moisture and, therefore, algae growth. Some decking oils also help protect against UV damage, but they need to be reapplied according to the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure the decking stays protected.

Costs depend on coating type, labor, site preparation, and required finishes.
