"This wasn't an install but they don't have my option available. Jimmy came to clean/sweep my fireplace and then cleaned the dryer vent. The vent on the roof had a screen that was catching lint. He did a great job"

"We had these guys finish our fireplace from 10 feet to about 19, and the roof was at a strange angle. They took the time to make the cuts on the bricks at the top to match the roof making the fireplace look fully finished and very beautiful! I would recommend them to anyone needing work done. I plan to use them again in spring for our next project."

"Casey came to check out the leak I had in my roof. The problem was from a hot water heater vent that was left after converting to a tankless. Strong winds from storms moved the vent and broke the seal causing the leak. Gave me two choices…remove the old vent and patch roof or shorten the vent on the roof to cut down on the wind moving it, and sealing it. Went with the latter…had it done immediately…correctly and at a great rate. No leaks even with the recent storms. Very happy"

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

To reset an electric fireplace, first shut the unit off using the control panel or remote control. Make sure the unit is entirely shut down, then unplug it from the power outlet. Wait five to 10 minutes, then plug the fireplace back in and turn it on. This process should reset the electric fireplace. After resetting, make sure to set the thermostat, timer, and other programmable settings to suit your preferences.

Sometimes chimney caps blow off during storms or fall off after rusting away. While this typically won’t cause structural damage, failing to replace a chimney cap can. A chimney cap prevents moisture, animals, and debris from entering your chimney, all of which can cause serious problems, such as damage to the masonry or blockages in the flue.

Yes, a chimney cap is an excellent idea for several reasons. It prevents debris, rain, or snow from entering your chimney, which can cause moisture damage or blockages. A cap with a mesh screen also keeps animals like birds, squirrels, and bats from nesting in your chimney—or worse, getting into your abode. Additionally, chimney caps help prevent downdrafts, which can push smoke and harmful gases back into your home. Lastly, by installing a chimney cap, you will improve safety and enhance the overall efficiency of your fireplace.

Chimney sweeps perform three levels of inspections:

  1. Level One: This is a basic annual inspection, often a visual inspection during cleaning, which is the most affordable.

  2. Level Two: This stage is ideal when selling or buying a home as it involves an inspection of the attic and roof, which is moderately priced.

  3. Level Three: This is a very thorough inspection that should take place after major storms or earthquakes, which is the most costly type of inspection.

To burn garden waste, you can use a dug-out burn pit lined with stone or brick, a burn barrel, or a garden incinerator. If using a burn barrel, make sure it's made entirely of metal and properly equipped with screened vents and a metal top screen. Garden incinerators are designed for waste burning and should be operated according to the manufacturer's instructions.
