"Mario did an excellent job fixing our gas fireplace! He called within 5 minutes of me contacting Angi and came out the same day. He repaired and cleaned our fireplace and it is working great now just in time for freezing weather! We highly recommend!"

"They were quick and efficient putting the cap back on my chimney. Inspected the inside after removing an insert that I’ve been wanting gone for two years. Gave me a quote on cleaning the fireplace and chimney and relining it which I will have them do later this year. Then I’ll have a working fireplace this winter. 😃👍"

"David was meticulous in remodeling our fireplace. He went above and beyond and did a few extra things that I asked of him. He truly takes pride in his work and will do anything within his power to make the customer happy. I found him to be honest and trustworthy. My fireplace used to be an eyesore, and now it’s a beautiful focal point! I love my fireplace!❤️"

"He is very courteous and friendly. He inspected the fireplace, it didn't need cleaning and it's in good shape, even the rooftop outlet. He said it wouldn't be fair to charge the full amount, we only paid for a inspection service. Which is only fair to pay him for his time to come out and check the fireplace."

Small jobs welcome

"We had these guys finish our fireplace from 10 feet to about 19, and the roof was at a strange angle. They took the time to make the cuts on the bricks at the top to match the roof making the fireplace look fully finished and very beautiful! I would recommend them to anyone needing work done. I plan to use them again in spring for our next project."

"It's not easy finding people who deal with you honestly today. Our roof was leaking around the chimney onto our patio. We called Armor Shield Roofing & Casey came and looked. Our roof is not new, but it's still in good shape, & Casey agreed. Anyone else would have probably pressured us to buy a new roof, or wouldn't even have bothered with a roof repair. Casey & his crew were super, worked hard, were precise, and cleaned up great. When we do no a new roof, we'll definitely call Armor Shield Roofing."

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

The most common sign of a carbon monoxide leak is the visible black soot marks on the walls near your wood stove. An excess accumulation of smoke in other rooms of your home could also indicate that your wood burning stove is leaking carbon monoxide. If you notice either of these signs or are still unsure, it’s best to leave the premises and contact your fire department to check your home’s levels.

When your fireplace is not in use for longer periods of time, such as over the summer, you can keep smells at bay by spraying either a commercial fireplace deodorizing product or a blend of one part distilled white vinegar to one part water around the walls of the fireplace.

Or, you can place a container of charcoal inside the fireplace to absorb odors. Just be sure to remove it before it’s time to start using the fireplace again.

You should not use Windex or any other ammonia-based glass cleaners when cleaning the glass doors or glass front panel of a gas fireplace. Instead, remove the glass and lay it on a soft surface, like a drop cloth or towel. Then clean it using a specialty fireplace glass cleaner purchased at a hardware store or online. If the glass is relatively clean, you can get away with a vinegar and water solution, but tougher stains will require a specialized cleaner.

An outdoor fireplace can add value to your home, with an estimated return on investment (ROI) of 56%. This luxurious outdoor feature will certainly appeal to buyers when the time comes to sell. And, of course, if you aren’t in the market, an outdoor fireplace will increase the livability of your home.

You can build a fireplace on an existing house, but it’s much easier to construct a masonry fireplace when building a new house. To add to an existing house, you’ll need to build a chimney and ensure the foundation can support a true masonry fireplace. Alternatively, you can purchase a gas or electric fireplace insert, which isn’t as complicated to add to an existing structure.
