"Very professional. I needed a bunch of trees trimmed. I Called on Monday, got an estimate on Wednesday and the job was done Friday. A crew of five came out with professional equipment, worked really hard in the heat and did a beautiful job. The also mulched and removed all branches and left the yard clean. I would definitely use again."

"Greg, the Arborist, is an extremely knowledgeable, organic arborist who genuinely cares about trees and all nature. He takes the time to explain what is going on with the trees and other plants and offers advice on the best organic plan and products. Having access to him and his wealth of knowledge is priceless. On top of all that, he is kind, polite, personable and dedicated to his profession. His team, led by Salvadore, was professional, polite, hard-working and did a fantastic job on trimming our trees and bushes - and polished it all off with the excellent clean-up job. I highly recommend Greg, the arborist, and his team!"

"I’ve worked with other tree companies and no one educated me about the trees and explained what scope of work needs to be done, except for Just Trees! Mark provides excellent communication and customer service. His crew does an exceptional job with tree trimming, tree removal, and tree planting."

"I called Luis after I received his information from Home Advisor, and he got right back to me. He was actually in the area on another job, and agreed to stop by to look at the job. He was right on time, and after seeing the job (which was taking down a tree in conjunction with a pool project) I received a fair bid -- and he was able to come back in the afternoon to do the job. His team was professional, efficient, and took away all debris. I plan to use his company for all my tree trimming and maintenance in the future. Finally, Luis put me in touch with an arborist he works with, who will support maintaining the health of all my trees."

"Brother’s landscaping did a fantastic job trimming HUGE trees in our yard and taking down an overgrown magnolia. They showed up on time, worked quickly (it was supposed to take two days) and cleaned up everything and took every single twig off the property and ground my tree well. While the owner was dumping a load the men took down some extra weeds in my yard. I will definitely use them again in the future."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

If you don’t cut down a dead, dying, or diseased tree, it can become a nesting place for pests like mosquitos, bees, beetles, wasps, fly larvae, and more. Some pests will live in the tree, while others will feed off the decaying wood. Unhealthy trees are also more likely to fall over, potentially injuring people and causing damage to your property.

Licensing requirements for arborists, also known as tree surgeons, vary by state and municipality. Many areas require a license, which often involves specialized education and experience. Even if not mandated, it's wise to hire a licensed professional as they tend to have more experience. Beyond licensing, look for certifications from organizations like the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) or the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA), as this indicates a higher level of expertise. Certified arborists must typically pass a comprehensive exam. Always confirm that the arborist has a business license and is fully insured to protect yourself from liability. Seeking positive recommendations from local homeowners is also a good step in finding a qualified professional.

Deciduous shade trees (the type of trees whose leaves fall off in autumn) need to be pruned in late winter—between February and March. That’s because it’s easier to find and remove sick or dead branches when no leaves are present. And wounds close and heal faster in colder temperatures so pruning them at this time also makes them less prone to infection.

A few signs a tree may be dead is if the leaves are dead and there are no signs of new blooms. You can also perform a scratch test on some of the branches to check the condition of the cambium layer beneath the bark.

If it is green, it is still alive, but if several are dry, brittle, and brown, the tree may be dying or dead. Always consult an arborist before assuming your tree is dead because you may be able to save it.

It depends on the type of tree. Typically, late spring on the cusp of winter is ideal for trees about to emerge from dormancy and produce new buds. That said, late fall is ideal for certain deciduous trees prone to bleeding sap. Avoid trimming trees in early spring, when they’re prone to disease.
