"Wonderful people! They did a Great job!! Efficient, on time, very courteous. They did a fabulous job removing a very large tree that had fallen on our building. They removed it quickly and prevented any further damage to the building. They cleaned the area when they were finished. I will hire Luis and his team again in the future and highly recommend them."

"Martin and his crew were very professional, personable and for the job done exactly as we had asked. They cut down two very large palm trees, removed over 20 sago's and planted a triple trunk palm tree. We asked for advice on another part of the flower beds and Martin gave us a straight answer, which was not to spend money. We greatly appreciated his honesty and he was very easy to work with. Would definitely hire them again and highly recommend them. His crew, while cutting down one of the very large palm trees, discovered a hidden birds nest with three little babies in it. They placed the nest and babies in one our flower pots for safe keeping while they worked in the yard. We then moved the nest and babies to a nearby palm tree, to the relief of the adult birds. The crew could have easily put the birds in with the pile of dead plants and no one would have been the wiser. Definitely will be using them in the future."

"Cesar and his crew responded quickly and was able to do a short notice job for us. He arrived on time and after we discussed the small project, he was able to go right away! After grinding 3 small tree stumps, he asked if there was anything else he could do. He was able to trim some high branches away from our electric service lines. He offered suggestions for other landscaping items and asked that we call him for any future needs. I am very pleased with his services and highly recommend them to anyone needing tree and shrubbery maintenance!"

Small jobs welcome

"My trees needed some serious weight adjustment. They came on time, cut the heavy branches, and hauled all of it away. Used a safety harness when climbing the tree, that was good."

Customers say: True professional

"DR Bob treated my tree for Dutch elm disease, as well as my shrubs for spider mites, and black spot. Definitely cheaper than replacing all my shrubs, which I was preparing to do. Prompt and professional. Fingers crossed, this works!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Rock salt or Epsom salt can damage and kill tree roots over several weeks and can even assist in removing the tree's stump. However, you need to drill holes or cut into the stump and surface tree roots to inject them properly with the salt. Repeat the process every two weeks until the roots visibly rot away.

Generally, if your neighbor’s tree hangs over your yard, you can legally trim overhanging branches. Keep in mind that you cannot cross your property line to cut the trees, and if you damage the tree by trimming it, your neighbor could sue you. Depending on the type of tree and value, this could mean dishing out two to three times the value of the tree.

It’s worth noting that the specifics of this type of tree maintenance and the guidelines around it may vary by location. Do your research and, most importantly, consult with your neighbor.

There are a few instances in which removing a tree is the best option. You might do this if the tree looks to be a major danger—potentially falling onto your home, your car, or other parts of your property—or it’s diseased beyond repair. A tree that is growing too close to your house might need to be removed to prevent mold growth.

Yes, burning wood with Dutch elm disease is a safer way to dispose of it than, say, tossing it in with the rest of your yard waste, which could potentially allow it to spread to healthy trees. But it’s always a good idea to check with your local government to make sure you’re complying with any ordinances about removing diseased trees as well as burning brush piles.

If it’s your property, then you can plant a tree near power lines, but it’s not the best idea. Any vegetation that grows within 10 feet or so of power lines will fall under the responsibility of the utility company, and they may trim or remove it as necessary. If you do move forward with your plan, try to choose a smaller ornamental tree, plant it as far away from the power lines as you can, and keep it trimmed to avoid future problems.
