They were professional, did excellent work, and cleaned up everything when they were finished. They also are very kind and easy to work with. "I called Luis after I received his information from Home Advisor, and he got right back to me. He was actually in the area on another job, and agreed to stop by to look at the job. He was right on time, and after seeing the job (which was taking down a tree in conjunction with a pool project) I received a fair bid -- and he was able to come back in the afternoon to do the job. His team was professional, efficient, and took away all debris. I plan to use his company for all my tree trimming and maintenance in the future. Finally, Luis put me in touch with an arborist he works with, who will support maintaining the health of all my trees."

Small jobs welcome

"Jose was referred by a neighbor and when I called him I knew right away that I found the right guy to trim my tree in the front yard. He first listened to what I was needing and when he came over to look and give me the estimate he shared a lot of information. He knows a lot about trees. On the day of the trimming Jose showed up on time and immediately went to work. Not only does he take pride in his work but also cleans up after himself. My front tree looks amazing!!!! Very hard to find a hard worker and outstanding work! I highly recommend Jose."

"Hire them! Wow I am blown away by their performance. Not only did they do a fantastic job of pruning my large tree, they also went above and beyond cleaning up the yard once they were done. They were kind, incredibly fair on the pricing and I will be hiring them in the future. Luis is the man!"

"DR Bob treated my tree for Dutch elm disease, as well as my shrubs for spider mites, and black spot. Definitely cheaper than replacing all my shrubs, which I was preparing to do. Prompt and professional. Fingers crossed, this works!"

"hard workers, polite, respectful of property, and reasonably priced for work that needed to be done. They climbed and cut down a large forked tree next to house. I plan on having them back in a few weeks to cut two more large trees down. All in the back yard. No damage to deck, roof or anything else. Worked next to rose bushes and I still have roses in tact. Unbelievable. thanks guys!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Pruning trees is important for several reasons. It improves tree health and strength by removing dead, diseased, or unwanted branches, which in turn encourages new growth and can help treat disease. For fruit trees, proper pruning can lead to a larger and better-quality harvest. Pruning also enhances safety by removing weak limbs that could break and fall, potentially causing injury or property damage, especially during storms. Beyond these functional benefits, pruning can also improve a tree's appearance. To ensure pruning is done correctly for the tree's long-term health, consider hiring a professional.

You can use a chainsaw, but it won’t remove the entire stump or root ball and is not a recommended method. It takes quite a bit of physical work to achieve and will likely dull or ruin your chainsaw. Instead, consider using salt, herbicide, light deprivation, boiling water, stump grinding, or burning to kill a tree stump. These methods allow you to kill a stump using minimal machinery and physical exertion.

The shepherd’s tree, native to the Kalahari Desert in Africa, holds the record for the deepest known tree roots at over 230 feet deep. Some African communities refer to it as the “Tree of Life” since it provides food, shade, and medicinal properties to the surrounding community.

If tree branches cross well into your property line, in many cases, these branches become part of your property, and you can trim them up until your neighbor’s property line. However, this issue will vary based on local ordinances, so you should do your research before making any decisions. Better yet, speak with your neighbor about how to handle any tree issues.

If you don’t mind the branches, you can leave them be, but if they’re becoming a hazard, it’s definitely worth having a conversation.

Whether tree roots will continue to grow after a tree has been cut down depends on the species. Some tree roots will eventually die because they can no longer get nutrients through photosynthesis. However, other species that reproduce through root sprouts can continue to grow and produce new sprouts for seven years or more. For example, the roots of elms, ficus, and willows tend to regrow aggressively, while the roots of pines, oaks, and maples will typically die. To determine if a root system is still active, look for new sprouts on the old trunk, stump, or any exposed roots.
