"The City of Plano sent me a letter requesting that I trim my two large live oaks to meet city ordinances so I put out a request on HomeAdvisor. Jose with JV Tree Service gave me a call and came out that same evening to start the project. He and his crew member returned the next morning to finish their work. They did an excellent job. I would definitely use them again especially based on how quick they got the work done."

"Fallen tree from previous nights storms, sitting on neighbors roof. Needed addresses ASAP. Rudy responded almost immediately and was as my house in only 10 mins or so. Gave me a very fair quote, started immediately and had the tree off neighbors roof in less than 20 min(literally) Was great communication, friendly, experienced and fantastic service overall. Will definitely refer and use them again!"

"Came and gave a quote, very fair market value, and promised a quick turnaround. When offered the job, Carlos and crew were there in three days. Job completed exactly as discussed and clean up was impeccable. I could not be home that day, so he even sent me pictures! When I got home that evening, I decided I wanted the stump a little shorter... Carlos came back that night and cut the stump down! I will definitely use him again, and would recommend him to anyone needing tree service. Very professional, and GREAT customer service."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Pruning is an effective way to prevent a diseased branch from infecting the rest of the tree. If the infection isn’t caught early enough and the pathogen has spread to the trunk or the majority of the branches though, it is too late to prune off the affected areas and you’ll likely need to remove the tree.

Some trees, such as silver maples, birches, sycamores, and scotch pines, shed their bark naturally. If your tree is not one that does this, it might have fallen prey to pests, fungi, or diseases. It could also simply be suffering from an extreme weather change, such as a snowstorm or heat wave. If you’re still stumped, consulting with a pro can help you diagnose your tree’s specific problem.

While trees can grow in the curb strip between the sidewalk and the street, this placement often poses the problem of interfering with overhead power lines. It’s best to consult your local utility provider and tree planting service before transplanting a tree that might grow into power lines. Also, you should never work within 20 feet of a live power line to avoid the risk of electric shock. Tree branches should never touch nearby power lines, so it’s essential to ensure your tree isn’t in danger of growing too close to them.

In most cases, you should not use a pruning seal on trees after trimming. Applying a sealant can interfere with the tree's natural healing process, and it does not guarantee protection from pathogens. Instead of sealing the cut, the best practice is to support the tree's natural recovery by providing it with plenty of water and a dormant-style fertilizer. However, there are exceptions. Pruning seals may be recommended for very vulnerable species, like elm trees, in areas where dangerous diseases such as Dutch elm disease are prevalent. In these specific situations, the protection offered by a sealant can outweigh its downsides. For advice tailored to your situation, especially after cutting large branches, it is best to consult a local tree trimming professional.

It will take you anywhere from 15 minutes to two hours per tree stump to grind and remove the stump from the ground. The larger the size, the longer it will take to remove the stump. Also, keep in mind that rocky soil may require local excavation services to loosen up large boulders before you can begin to remove the tree stump.
