L&S Mechanical began as a Dallas-based contractor in 1985 and has grown over the years to have six locations out of Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio and Austin. Over the past thirty years, we have become known as the premier provider of new home construction in the plumbing industry. In the last 10 years we have added HVAC and electrical services to now offer the Tri-Trade Solution. The people you have worked with, the quality, and the service our customers have come to expect remain the same, but now we are making it even easier to get things done. Now in 2017 we have expanded our brand once again to offering Preventive Maintenance Programs that will allow old and new customers the ability to have honest, quality preventive work done on their homes for years to come.

"Very professional, contact prior to arrival, did great work."

"This company was the most responsive company I have ever worked with. Reached out to me upon notification and came to my home that day to assess the requirement. Arrived on agreed day on time, did an excellent job, cleaned up after themselves. The fix to balancing output is excellent. finally we have heat and AC where it belongs and the comfort level in our home has substantially improved. We are very grateful for the professionalism of this company and the final outcome."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

On average, replacing an AC compressor costs between $800 and $2,300, but it could cost as much as $2,800. There are a few factors that impact the price of a compressor replacement, including the type and size of the compressor, as well as the type of HVAC system and local labor rates.

You will only need to refill your AC with refrigerant if it has a leak. Otherwise, a modern, well-maintained AC will most likely never need a recharge. You may notice a leak in an older system if your bills are higher, you hear a hissing sound, or if the air is blowing out hot.

No, a licensed local AC repair technician must replace AC coils due to the need to handle hazardous refrigerants. Attempting DIY poses risks to your personal safety, as most refrigerants are flammable and toxic. You also risk voiding your warranty with the HVAC company and causing damage to the unit.

You should flush your AC drain line once every three months to keep it clear of debris and buildup. Keeping your AC drain line clean prevents clogs, backups, mold growth, and extra wear on your AC unit. If you live in a humid area or have several furry pets, up your cleaning schedule to once a month.

The right type of HVAC system will depend on several factors, including your climate, budget, preferences, and existing HVAC setup. For example, if you live in an area that experiences extreme weather, then a split system would likely be the best option. Or, if budget is a concern, consider installing a ductless system in just one room.
