"Needed bottom rails and posts repaired/painted on a small section of wrought iron fence. Timely response and regular communication leading up to completion. Showed up on time and completed the work very quickly. Excellent pricing in comparison to other estimates received. Highly recommend."

"We love our wrought iron fence. It makes an older home look really nice and we don't have to worry about our dog (or other dogs) jumping the fence. Also, the package receiving area they created in front is so handy for receiving Amazon deliveries. The chain link fence they did in back and the wood fencing they did on one side of our property have both made our home more secure and more attractive. I would definitely hire them again."

"I thoroughly vetted this company. I had been needing to get this project done for quite a while. Their schedule and mine coordinated and so did the price. I'm a 1st responder and was given a discount. Darin found that out and gave it to me; I didn't ask for it. The job was done well & on time & for the price quoted. My neighbors liked the work enough they hired him to do theirs too. In fact, the HOA liked the work enough that they hired his company to do jobs on HOA owned property with wrought iron fences. Couldn't have been happier with all work done. I would use him again, but may not need to. The job came with a 20-year material and workmanship warranty."

Wrought Iron questions, answered by experts

Pickets should sit at least 2 inches off the ground to encourage groundwater to flow underneath. Pickets can sit as much as 6 inches off the ground, but setting it any higher could let pets in or out of your yard unintentionally. These are not to be confused with the fence posts anchored underground with soil or concrete footing.

The cost to build a fence is about $3,100 on average, but you could pay anywhere from $400 to $13,700 or more. Your cost will depend on the length, height, and materials for the fence. If you hire a professional installer, labor costs typically represent about half of the total cost of the project. This means you potentially can save quite a bit of money doing the work yourself.

You don't need gravel under metal fence posts, but it's always a good idea to add it in. Adding about six inches of gravel before you pour concrete will provide better water drainage, which can help to prolong the lifespan of your new fence and maximize its stability.

Vinyl and chicken wire are two of the best and most affordable materials for a DIY garden fence. Vinyl is a great option because it is cost-effective, easy to work with, and effective at keeping pests out. A vinyl fence can cost as little as $15 per linear foot, especially if you install it yourself. Chicken wire is even more budget-friendly, costing as little as $2 per linear foot. While chicken wire is more affordable, vinyl is a better choice if privacy is a concern. You can also add chicken wire on top of a vinyl fence for extra security.

As with any project or material, installing wrought iron fencing has advantages and disadvantages. Some pros and cons of this fence material include:

Pros

  • Long lifespan with proper maintenance

  • Very durable

  • Aesthetically pleasing

  • Functional as well as decorative

Cons

  • Requires regular maintenance and cleaning

  • Expensive compared to other fence materials

  • Limited privacy
