"Berto and his crew were amazing . I needed a narrow brick wall repaired from where I accidentally rolled into a few years back . I was under a time deadline . As a lender required it be repaired before I moved forward on closing a home equity loan . Berto responded quickly to my post . He and crew were punctual, and professional . Communicated with me how they would fix the problem . Listened to my concerns and input . Got the work done quickly . The brickwork was amazing , looks like new ! The wood supports were brought back in-line Everything was level and true . They thoroughly cleaned the work area . You would not have known it had been a construction site just minutes before . Best experience I have ever had getting work done on my property ."

"I highly recommend this company. Extraordinary quality. I came back after they were done and couldn’t even see what had been repaired, it was so perfect. Very good price too and they did the work within the estimated time and cleaned everything when done. I would give them 10 stars."

"Tommy cam out and assessed the damage done from a break in. It turned out to be a fairly simple fix. I thought I would have had to replace the whole door. Tommy ordered then picket up the parts from the manufacturer. The door is as good as new. Everything is back to normal. Thanks"

Wall Repair questions, answered by experts

The longevity of flood walls depends on how they were constructed, but most wood, gravel, and cement flood walls last 10 years. While aluminum flood walls may cost far more initially, they can be a good investment as they can last decades and will not be damaged by exposure to the elements.

Yes, to build a retaining wall, a permit is required. Similarly, any repairs or modifications to an existing retaining wall require permits. If the planned wall measures higher than 4 feet, most municipalities require designs and permits come through a licensed engineer. In some locations, if the wall is shorter than 4 feet, a permit may not be required. For the requirements in your area, contact your local government.

If you don’t backfill a retaining wall—either at all or adequately enough—the wall won’t drain well, and water will be able to pass through it. Poor drainage will lead to a warped wall or a buildup of hydrostatic pressure, which can eventually collapse your retaining wall. If you have particularly sloped land, consult a structural engineer to ensure your hardscaping is adding value to your home.

A retaining wall can only function as a fence if it’s high enough on all sides to prevent someone from accidentally falling into the pool. However, most retaining walls retain dirt, which means their purpose is not related to safety. There would need to be nothing on the other side of the wall for it to be considered a fence, but in that case, it wouldn’t retain anything and would cease to be a retaining wall.

Sand and gravel are two suitable options for filling behind a retaining wall. If you’re building your own retaining wall, you’ll complete this part of the process—known as backfilling—after you finish laying the blocks. Make sure not to skip it—otherwise, you could wind up with drainage issues, which can cause your retaining wall to collapse.
