"I was very happy with the way scheduling was done and how professional they were. They were scheduled to come within 1.5 hours of when I called and would bring everything needed to complete the job. Unfortunately, due to my own personal reasons, I had to cancel the repair. -- They were very gracious about the change and I felt like I could call on them again, if I needed any plumbing done."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

As homes age in Pflugerville, plumbing systems face different challenges based on their construction era. Houses built in the 1980s and 1990s feature galvanized steel or polybutylene pipes that require full replacement due to corrosion and high failure risks. Newer homes use modern pipes but face issues from expansive clay soils. This soil shifts foundations over time, requiring you to address cracked or offset drain lines hidden beneath the concrete slab.

Helpful?

When planning plumbing upgrades in Pflugerville, always secure the required permits for major work like repiping or water heater replacements. State law mandates hiring a licensed professional for these tasks. You must also account for moderately hard water by installing softening systems to protect your fixtures. Finally, check your neighborhood association rules regarding exterior modifications and schedule mandatory annual testing for your irrigation backflow preventers.

Helpful?

Extreme weather in TX directly impacts your plumbing system. Severe winter freezes cause uninsulated pipes in attics and garages to burst. During summer droughts, the expansive clay soil shrinks significantly, shifting your foundation and breaking underground drain lines. Conversely, heavy rains expand the soil rapidly, causing further foundation stress and potential sewer backups. Protect your home by insulating exposed pipes and monitoring your foundation year-round.

Helpful?

Start your plumbing project by identifying your specific water utility district and securing all necessary city permits. Always verify your contractor holds an active state license before work begins. If you are buying a home in Pflugerville, schedule a video inspection of the under-slab drains to check for soil-related damage. Finally, avoid scheduling non-urgent upgrades during peak summer months or immediately following severe winter freezes.

Helpful?

In TX, hard water heavily impacts your plumbing fixtures and water heaters, causing mineral buildup that shortens their lifespan. You must also monitor under-slab drain lines, as shifting clay soils crack these hidden pipes. Additionally, freezing weather damages exterior hose bibs and uninsulated pipes in attics or garages. Finally, maintain your in-ground irrigation systems and backflow preventers to ensure they function properly and meet local municipal regulations.
