"I had a leak from my AC unit onto the ceiling of my bathroom while my wife was out of town. Caused the drywall to collapse. I reached out to 5 companies listed on the BBB site. CQS was the only company to respond. Then Edger came out, took a look, had his drywall guy come out, and gave me a very reasonable quote. They came in and fixed it so well, that when my wife returned home, she couldn't tell anything was different. I have several other projects I am likely to use CQS going forward!"

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Address freeze-vulnerable plumbing immediately before November to prevent winter pipe bursts. Active water leaks also require urgent attention under TX codes to protect your property. Monitor underground pipes closely during intense summer droughts, as shifting clay soils stress foundation lines. Complete exterior drainage work before the spring flood season. You can defer cosmetic fixture upgrades until peak contractor demand seasons pass.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Bastrop frequently underestimate how local soil conditions impact plumbing. Expansive clay soils shift and move underground pipes, requiring careful planning. Additionally, mature pine trees cause significant root intrusion into sewer lines. You must also account for flood zone regulations along the Colorado River. Finally, replacing aging cast iron pipes in older neighborhoods often reveals adjacent failures, requiring a broader project scope than initially planned.

Helpful?

Choose materials that withstand local hard water and freezing temperatures in TX. Cross-linked polyethylene is excellent for interior supply lines because it resists scale buildup and handles freeze-thaw cycles better than rigid pipes. Use thick-walled PVC for underground sewer lines to combat heavy root intrusion. For water heaters, install corrosion-resistant or tankless models to counteract mineral damage from the local water supply.

Helpful?

Combining plumbing with other home upgrades is a smart strategy in Bastrop. If you schedule slab foundation repairs, include under-slab pipe upgrades to avoid reopening concrete later. During kitchen or bathroom remodels, replace outdated pipes while walls are open. For pier-and-beam homes, add freeze protection insulation during whole-house repiping. Bundling these tasks with a licensed professional reduces scheduling gaps in an active local construction market.

Helpful?

Updating your plumbing directly supports your resale value in the competitive Bastrop market. Replacing aging galvanized pipes and documenting a clean sewer line heavily appeal to inspection-conscious buyers. Upgrading water heaters also adds significant value, as local hard water shortens appliance lifespans. State law in TX requires sellers to disclose known defects, making proactive repairs a practical decision to prevent renegotiations during a sale.
