"We recently had our deck done and they referred us to Dexpert to have it stained. Our deck was stained today and it looks absolutely beautiful. It was stained by Joshua and he did a great job on behalf of Dexpert. Our deck is only 250sq ft but we were very pleased with the cost for the job."

"Brad, Artiseo and their team did a fantastic job doing a top quality full interior paint job, touch up on exterior paint and pressure washing house, driveway, sidewalks and patios. They finished the job on schedule and were always on time and working. They were professional, courteous and cooperative. Often they made helpful recommendations for how best to accomplish a task. Not only did they do what was expected, but their attention to detail and going above and beyond made things look great! I was also very pleased that they took such care to prep the surfaces to be painted, and also to cover and protect (furniture/floors/belongings) other areas of the house from paint. Pricing for the job was fair, and when other tasks were added the cost of alterations were also priced fairly. Overall Carnival Custom Painting did a terrific job!"

"I recently posted two jobs I wanted help with on Angi’s list. Anthony, the owner of Artista Painters and Remodelers was the first company to reach out to me. I could tell quickly that he truly enjoys what he does and that he seemed very credible. He was able to go to my house the same day we spoke and he provided me a reasonable quote. He also mentioned he thought my front door needed some attention and I agreed with him. The next day he and his team started the job. They redid two fence posts so the gates could close easily and sanded and stained my front door. They also polished my granite counters in my kitchen. He communicated well during the job which I appreciated as I was out of town. I am very pleased with his professionalism l, his rates, and his solid communication. I look forward to working with him on other projects."

"Jesse painted the exterior of my home in 2004 and they did such a fantastic job that I called them back for a repeat performance. My house looks like new again! From start to finish the project was terrific. Jesse came by himself and offered the most competitive bid, continued to stay in touch prior to and during the job. He and his crew were very gracious, pleasant, accommodating, and professional. He also arranged for one of his team to handle some interior repair/repainting work which involved floating and taping. This is a process that requires precision and patience. The work was so flawless that I can't see where the damage was to begin with! You won't go wrong with AAA Jesse's House Painting & Remodeling! I'll definitely call him again and you should call him, too!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

There are more pros than cons when staining a deck. Deck stain is more affordable than paint, it protects the wood and allows the natural textures to shine through, and it can revive the appearance of your home. However, deck stain also requires prep work (sometimes days or more), carries more upkeep than a painted deck, and can fade over time if not cared for.

You don't need to seal your deck after painting it because most exterior paints are waterproof and weather-resistant. While stealing is not necessary, it can add an additional layer of protection.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood to help prevent the boards from cracking. However, you must wait for the wood to dry out completely before applying any finish. Freshly treated wood can take weeks or even months to dry; a common recommendation is to wait three to six months. To check if the wood is ready, perform a simple water test: drip some water onto the surface. If the water beads up, the wood is still too wet and needs more time to dry. If the wood absorbs the water, it is dry enough to be painted or stained. You can proceed with building your deck or fence while the wood is still wet, but you will need to wait to apply the paint or stain.

Wood stains last anywhere from two to five years, depending on exposure to the elements, your local climate, the type of stain, and the surface it’s on. For instance, vertical surfaces last longer than horizontal surfaces. Some types of woods, like dense hardwoods, will require a recoat yearly, as they are too dense for the stain to absorb. In any event, apply a recoat every 2 to 4 years. As for storage, a can of unopened stain can last up to 5 years, though results may vary.

To make sure the paint won’t bubble as you apply it, make sure to paint on a day that’s cooler than 85 degrees Fahrenheit. When the temperature is too high, the paint won’t dry evenly, which can result in bubbles forming on the surface. Another way to prevent paint from bubbling is to clean the walls, apply primer, and let everything dry completely before you begin.
