"Our composite deck was showing its age (18 years) and in need of rejuvenation. "The Dexpert" crew was courteous and professional. Joshua and Jordan just completed the surface refinishing and staining of the wooden rails. The deck looks like new and the price was most reasonable. We couldn't be more pleased."

"Brad and his entire team were great to work with. From the beginning, they came out quickly for an estimate and got us on the schedule in a timely manner. Then, they completed all the required work in a three day period. The painters did a great job with the work itself but also with cleaning up after themselves. Brad even came by our house the day they were finishing up to check in and make sure we were happy with the work they did. Would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs their house painted!"

"Nick and team did a phenomenal job painting the entire interior of my house (incl. ceilings, doors, trim, etc). I'm very happy with the final results. Nick was very punctual, organized and quick to respond with any questions and requests. They made it so painless, I just wished I had done it sooner! The quality of their work is incredible. Perfect lines, no dripping and the clean-up was spotless every day. Looks like a brand new house. I can't say enough good things about the experience. We will be doing the exterior of our house soon and I am looking forward to working with Nick again and highly recommend them for all your painting needs."

"Salvador and his employee Robert were great. Showed up on time every day at the time he said he would be there. Robert his employee worked just as hard when the boss wasn’t there as when he was. Great worker. Salvador was great and very fare to deal with. Prep work and clean up was perfect. Best price and we had a few quotes. Also Salvador at SMG uses Sherwin Williams paint not some cheap box store brand. SMG was willing to go the extra mile on everything. He also fix a few things extra. When we go to paint the inside SMG is who we will have do the work. We also recommended them to our friends."

"This is a great company to hire. They provided a fair offer and completed the job in a timely manner. They showed up when they were supposed to and work several days in a row to complete the task. I wish I would have found this company to do all the painting inside of my home prior to moving but I will be calling them again for all the painting jobs and other things I need done in my new home. Great job fellas and thank you!!"

"Very professional crew. I was trying to tackle painting the whole interior house alone because of a ridiculous quote prior. I decided to look for help again 1 month later and decided to hear this crew out. Everything was amazing and the price was about 35 percent less than what I was originally quoted. Good bunch of guys. Customer service was great and they always came to work smiling ready to knock it out. The job itself is flawless. Just what I expected out of a professional painting company."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Unless you’re using a 2-in-1 formula or painting over an existing coat of paint, it pays to apply a coat of primer ahead of your new paint. Decks see a lot of footfall and exposure to extreme and sudden temperature changes and moisture levels. The primer promotes better paint adhesion, moisture repellency, and a smoother finish, which means you’ll often need fewer coats of paint.

The best exterior paint for the job of painting your front porch depends on the material you’ll be painting. Acrylic paint is often recommended for a wooden porch as it’s durable and easy to apply. If your porch is made of concrete, you’ll need to find a formula suited to that material.

Always sand a deck before repainting so the wood is smooth and ready for paint. While you do not need to fully remove paint before repainting, sanding helps remove any areas with weather and sun damage. Sanding also helps remove chipped or flaking paint and opens the wood pores to improve paint adhesion.

Wood stain does go bad, but it will last in the can for between three and six years, provided you use proper storage techniques. Storing wood stain in open containers or in extremely low or high temperatures will cause your wood stain to become unusable much more quickly. Water- and latex-based wood stains typically last for just two to four years, while oil-based wood stains can last for three to six years.

Whether to brush or roll stain on wood depends on the project and your preference. Brushing is ideal for smaller, intricate areas and offers more control over the application, ensuring thorough coverage and penetration into the wood's grain.

Conversely, rolling is efficient for more extensive, flat surfaces and can save time. However, it is not always the best fit for textured or uneven wood. Some projects may benefit from combining both methods, using a brush for detail work and a roller for broader areas. Ultimately, the choice between brushing and rolling depends on the specific requirements of your staining project.
