"I have to give him an A as while his pricing was not very competitive (he was about $20% above the other bids), he was very responsive and came out to see the property within a day or two of talking to him. In our case, we had already worked with a design architect to create our plan so it was possible for someone to come out and give you a proposal ( most companies try and lock you in by refusing to give you a price until they have created the design). In our case, we had the design and tree requirements to support it, so it was relatively easy for someone to give you a quote. (BTW, designs cost between $200-400 for a full backyard and most companies will throw in if you go with them)
When came out, he took the time to listen to what we wanted to do and provided his proposal to me in 24 hrs, which in this industry is impressive.  He seems like a very likable guy and was professional when he came to meet with me.  When I reviewed his proposal, he was fairly competitive on most things, but had several other fees in there for bed prep (which was triple most people's) and haul-away, which in this case there really wasn't anything haul away as our backyard is somewhat of a barren wasteland right now. Had his pricing been competitive, I would have very likely used him. The only reason I saw that I would like not use him in the future is that I would not likely waste his time asking for a quote as he is used to higher margins that I want to pay.
He is a no-nonsense guy who doesn't do the high pressure sale and definitely knows what he's talking about so I rate him accordingly.
