"Great response time from my initial contact, constant communication during the process and then a follow-up after the work was completed. Super people I enjoyed having in my home. Took great care doing the job well and in the time frame promised. Best money I could have spent for this project. Thrilled that I chose this company for our install and could not be more pleased. Top notch. Stop looking--this is the company for your insulation needs."

"I live in a old house, and the insulation on the attic needs to be added.  City of Austin Utilities (Austin Energy) has a great rebate program for insulation, so I signed up.  EnergyAttic is one of the companies listed by Austin Energy.  For getting the quote, the audit person was friendly and through with his explanation about what's and why's.  Finally I scheduled for the work.  Kent came with his crews and basically supervised and worked on the problem and the insulation.  He made sure everything was installed (seal, insulation) properly and Austin Energy auditor approved the work.  The door blower/blast test took a while because of setting issue (EnergyAttic subcontracted to other company), and finally after 3 hours, we did get an excellent result.  I was happy with Kent's and his crews work.  They were friendly, punctual, and got the work done.  They actually came back to reseal door on the furnace area.  They also promised to come back if  I were to work on the attic and the insulation needed to be re-sweep."

"I was going to purchase there special to have the roof inspected and $100 credit for repairs but when I called they told me they would inspect it for free and let me know what was needed. They came a few days later and took pictures of the damage and sent me an estimate. That evening I sent the signed estimate back and there crew showed up at 8:00 the next morning. They were very professional and let me know what they did. I will be using them in the future."

"I n May of 2016 Mike did my spray foam insulation under the roof deck of the metal building I was finishing out as a guest house. The crew did the initial closed cell foam and then when I decided I wanted an additional layer of open cell foam, the crew promptly came back and did the second installment. Mike was true to his word and fair in his pricing even when I added to the job. I just recommended him to someone else and realized that I never wrote a review. So here it is!"

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Insulation can be made of cellulose, fiberglass, polyurethane, polystyrene, or mineral wool. Radiant barriers are often made of aluminum or other similarly reflective materials, but they will need to be paired with something else because they don’t provide heating benefits. Cellulose is among the most eco-friendly options and may be recycled when it’s past its shelf-life, whereas polyurethane and polystyrene both emit harmful compounds and will need to be handled with care during installation.

Yes, usually you will need some kind of vapor barrier on the exterior walls when the framing is attached to concrete and masonry surfaces.

Insulating windows with plastic works, but it can be time-consuming, and the end results can—and often do—end up lacking in aesthetics. Window film and caulking your windows to make sure there are no drafts are two options that increase the energy efficiency of your home in a low-cost way. Plastic can be a good strategy while you consider alternatives.

Blown-in insulation works, but only for unfinished attics. Also, it isn’t the longest-lasting nor the most effective option. For better options, look into spray foam insulation or natural fiber batts. They typically have a longer lifespan, better heat resistance, and stronger sound-proof abilities. Spray foam insulation costs about $1.25 to $1.50 per square foot, but can go up to more than $4 per square foot. Fiber batt pricing varies depending on the material.

Mold can grow on garage ceiling insulation, which is why it’s important to install a vapor barrier behind the insulation and keep the space cooled and heated as you would your living area. Doing so will more or less eliminate the risk of mold growing on your garage ceiling insulation. You can also install a self-draining dehumidifier to help remove moisture, or opt for a foam board insulation or spray foam insulation that won’t harbor moisture and mold.
