When it comes to decks, patios, porches, or pergolas – or any outdoor project we handle – the details matter. Of course, we want your new outdoor space to look amazing and seamlessly blend with the style and design of your home. But we also want to make sure it is safe, secure, and lasts for many years. To ensure that’s the case, we need to pay attention to the details. Our contractors use a clear Job Process Methodology that ensures the structure is built well, and we have established national relationships with preferred material vendors, including AZEK and Timbertech.\nAs for the team that will be creating your captivating outdoor space? Our deck contractors are each trained, licensed, and certified in each applicable area. Each of our locations is locally owned and operated and backed by a national network of experts\n

"Branden did a phenomenal job on our project! We wanted him to remove our mulch and dead plants in our flower beds and replace it with a dry scape scene. He was very helpful with coming up with ideas and even used AI to digitally show us the design prior to agreeing to move forward. Additionally we wanted to add some sod. He had great communication, was here when he said he would be and finished a day sooner than expected! We are very happy with him and his crews and will use him for future projects! Very respectful and professional company!"

Patios questions, answered by experts

Your maintenance needs revolve around the type of foundation you choose, as well as how you furnish or decorate it. Patios require little else other than the occasional hose-down, but decks and other wooden structures will require annual power washing and sealing. You may also need to restain the wood every two to three years.

Adding a solid roof rather than building a pergola or leaving the space open will make maintenance much easier. Without a roof, you will need to spend more time sweeping, washing, and covering your furniture to protect it from UV bleaching.

If you have multiple rooms that could use some organization, home storage solutions like cubbies in your mudroom or built-in shelving can help you move clutter off the floor. Take it one step further by pairing shelves and cabinets with personalized aesthetic touches like woven or canvas lined metal baskets to add another organizational element.

Several types of porches are available to meet your needs and style preferences. Some common porch types include:

  • Porticos are essentially a roof over a walkway leading to the home's front entrance.

  • Sunrooms are closed-in porches that are an extension of the house with glass or plastic panels that allow optimal sunlight.

  • Wraparound porches extend around the entire home, or at least the front and one side, and offer multiple entrances to the house.

  • Back porches are an extension of the home’s floor into the outdoors. These offer more protection and privacy than a deck.

Building a sunroom is usually less expensive than the cost of building a home addition, but it depends on the type of sunroom. A four-season sunroom will cost more than a home addition because it’s basically a home addition with larger, more expensive windows. All other types of sunrooms will be more affordable than a home addition of an equivalent size because they don’t have insulation, heating, cooling, electrical connections, or plumbing.

When designing an attached greenhouse, several factors should be considered. These include the orientation and positioning of the greenhouse to maximize sunlight exposure, the structural integrity of the connection to the house, sufficient insulation to regulate temperature, proper ventilation for airflow, and adequate space for plants and pathways. If you’re restricted because of your budget, go with a simpler design to maximize the use of your money.
