"Great bunch of guys that were on time. They completely removed two large trees and topped another one that was very close to the house, shed and garden pond. They all worked quickly with no damage to existing structures. They raked the lawn of debris and even blew off my roof and gutters."

"Jeff showed up to provide our estimate and was ready and willing to start the job immediately. His prices are extremely competitive, and he did a great job in trimming our tree as well as the clean up. Jeff is very nice, professional, and a pleasure to do business with. We definitely recommend him!"

"I wanted a lot of landscaping done on a strict budget. I wanted a large planter in the front yard and the entire back yard landscaped with drought tolerant colorful plants and flowers with areas of gravel, grass, and low maintenance and water use. I also wanted a brick path from the patio to a shed with bricks that I already had, and a path from the side gate to driveway with concrete pavers that I also had and wanted to reuse. Kerry listened to what I wanted, made great suggestions, and was very professional and easy to work with. He and Wes were dependable, had a great work ethic, and now I will have beautiful low maintenance yards with colorful flowers and soon will finally have grass in the back (just planted today). He really worked hard to do all of this work on my tight budget. I would definitely use KJ Trees again and recommend them to others!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

The felling notch you make before you make the final cut will determine which way the tree will fall. The cut will be in a wedge or triangle, and the tree will fall from the highest point of the triangle. You can use this, as well as the process described above, to estimate where a tree will fall.

If it’s only a smaller branch that has died and you’re keeping an eye on the tree, it’s probably nothing to worry about. But if other nearby branches start dying off as well, or a very large branch dies, then you likely have a bigger problem. It’s time to watch for diseases and other problems and possibly get professional guidance on how to proceed.

Many species, especially when well-established, are not fans of transplantation. You’ll need to decide if you want to risk splashing the cash, understanding that transplantation isn’t always successful. Again, this is where hiring a pro is helpful, as they can give you all the essential info you need to ensure your tree stands a fighting chance.

Talking with a septic pro before planting trees near your tank is best to ensure the roots won’t interfere with your septic system. However, there is an easy way to figure out where to plant a tree—but you’ll need to know how tall it can get when it’s fully grown. For instance, if the tree can reach 50 feet, plant it at least 50 feet from your septic system.

Tree trimming can count as landscaping, depending on how a landscaping business describes its services. Professional tree trimmers are more specialized than landscapers and offer trimming services separately from general landscaping.

When general landscaping companies offer tree trimming, look up the details. They usually mean shaping or seasonal trimming of ornamental trees, which is different from trimming larger trees for health or safety reasons. When possible, look for a licensed expert that specializes in trees and tree health.
