"I wanted to write a review for “Sprinkler Management Dream Yards” because they did an outstanding job on the installation of our new sprinkler system. From the first day I called for an appointment, everyone was so professional. Mark came to look over the project almost immediately and Crystal in the office kept me informed as to when they were coming to do the proposal and when to expect them for actually beginning the job and when it was to be completed. The foreman was equally impressive in making sure all the tubing and parts was put in perfectly and that the lawn did not suffer from unnecessary digging. He made sure that the driveway, walkways, and porch were clean when the job was done. He made sure that I fully understood how to use the remote watering system from my phone app. I told him he was a perfectionist and he said that he is a perfectionist, so he can demand the same from his team. After the job was completed, Mark called again to make sure the sprinkler system was installed to my liking and to ask if I had any questions. I wish all my service contacts were half as great as this team. The price & their service was truly amazing."

"His supervisor and crew far exceeded our expectations. They did a beautiful job and were very easy to work with. George supervised. I was worried that my crushed marble driveway was being affected but when they finished they left my place in perfect order. Israel was a very kind and hard worker. I was totally pleased!! Highly recommend them. They are very knowledgeable in what they do."

"Job was completed on time and on budget. I like the fact that they use petroleum based sealer as opposed to other bidders who used water based sealer. Driveways look great."

"After years of struggling to maintain a green lawn in the hot South Texas summers we gave up and hired a landscape architect to design a total renovation of our landscape replacing all of the turf grass with native, drought tolerant plants. When it came time to choose a landscape contractor a neighbor recommended M&H Landscapes and Irrigation. Carlos gave us a reasonable bid for our ambitious project and was able to start work within a week. Their crew was on the job at 7:30 every morning and worked steadily until 5:00 each day. From demolition to hardscape installation to irrigation design to planting they were hard working and meticulous. The crews were well organized managing delivery of materials for each phase in a timely manner. They cleaned up the job site each evening before leaving. Carlos and his dad Moises made many excellent practical suggestions for design and installation modifications. They were flexible and accommodating throughout the entire project which took about three weeks. Their many years of experience in the area of landscape and irrigation installation was critical in the spectacular end result. This project cost about 10% of the value of our house, but we feel that the money was well spent. We spend hours every day enjoying the park like setting that we now call our home. Every day people walking through the neighborhood stop to admire the scene. We are thrilled with the results."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

New asphalt typically needs 24 to 72 hours to dry before it can handle light foot traffic and careful driving. Although it may appear solid after a few days, the full curing process, where the asphalt reaches its peak strength, takes much longer—generally from 30 days to a year.

During this extended curing time, the surface remains relatively soft and can be damaged by heavy vehicles, sharp objects, or high temperatures. To protect your investment, it's best to avoid parking heavy machinery on the asphalt until it has fully cured.

The exact time required for drying and curing depends on several factors, including the weather, the specific asphalt mix, and its thickness. For the most accurate advice tailored to your situation, consult with your asphalt contractor.

The average cost of 1,500 square feet of asphalt ranges from about $10,500 to $22,500, depending on location, thickness, base material, and how accessible the job site is to crews and equipment. Keep in mind that your asphalt material cost may vary depending on its type, ranging from porous asphalt to heated blacktop. Standard asphalt costs $7 to $13 per square foot.

The decision to repair or replace your driveway depends on the extent of the damage. If your driveway has a few small cracks, a simple repair will do the trick. If you see larger cracks and potholes, it may be time to consider resurfacing or replacement. Resurfacing is a great option if more than 25% of the surface is damaged, but if the damage is extensive—deep cracks or significant sinking—it’s best to replace the driveway entirely. A new driveway, with proper care, can last decades while patching or resurfacing might only hold up for a few years before needing more attention.

Yes, you can retrofit an existing driveway, but this usually involves cutting grooves into the driveway, installing the heating elements, then sealing them. While this is much less expensive than typical heated driveway systems, the final appearance could be diminished. Speak with a driveway paving company to confirm which design method is best for you.

Common alternatives to a gravel driveway include concrete, asphalt, brick, stone pavers, and permeable pavers. Concrete and asphalt are generally the most affordable options. However, concrete can be prone to cracking in cold climates, while asphalt may soften in areas with high heat and direct sun exposure. For enhanced curb appeal, brick, stone, and permeable pavers are popular choices, though their installation can be more expensive due to intricate designs. Stone pavers offer a natural look and are sometimes installed with gravel around them. Both permeable pavers and brick driveways provide excellent drainage, which helps prevent flooding and reduce water runoff.
