"I wanted to write a review for “Sprinkler Management Dream Yards” because they did an outstanding job on the installation of our new sprinkler system. From the first day I called for an appointment, everyone was so professional. Mark came to look over the project almost immediately and Crystal in the office kept me informed as to when they were coming to do the proposal and when to expect them for actually beginning the job and when it was to be completed. The foreman was equally impressive in making sure all the tubing and parts was put in perfectly and that the lawn did not suffer from unnecessary digging. He made sure that the driveway, walkways, and porch were clean when the job was done. He made sure that I fully understood how to use the remote watering system from my phone app. I told him he was a perfectionist and he said that he is a perfectionist, so he can demand the same from his team. After the job was completed, Mark called again to make sure the sprinkler system was installed to my liking and to ask if I had any questions. I wish all my service contacts were half as great as this team. The price & their service was truly amazing."

"I had a large amount of soil and weeds on the side of my house that I needed removed and replaced with river rock and a flagstone path to aid in drainage. I called multiple landscape services, but Eric at Also City Scapes was the only who called back, and even scheduled to come out to provide an estimate the next day. He arrived on time, gave a fair price, and I agreed to have him do the work. He said that his crew was currently working on a large project, but might be able to fit me in between projects the following week, if not it would be the week after. A week later, I called to see if they would be able to start that week. Eric told me that the project he was currently working on had some changes that required additional work, and his crew wouldn't be able to start on my project until the next week. I was not in a rush, and he did not guarantee that first start date, so I told him it was no problem at all. A week later, I called again and left a voice mail asking if his crew would still be able to make it that week. I did not receive a call back. A week later, I called again and spoke to Eric. He said that his team would be able to start my project the next Wednesday. I told him that was fine, but I wanted to confirm that it would definitely be Wednesday, as the promised start date had been pushed back multiple times already. He confirmed that it would definitely be Wednesday. The following Wednesday, I received a text from Eric, saying that his crew would be there Thursday to start the work. On Thursday, his crew arrived mid-day and cleared the dirt and weeds from the side of the house. They returned on Friday to dig the path leading from the driveway to the gate on the side of the house, and lay the materials. An orange cable from the internet service provider had been partially exposed a few feet way from the house for about a one foot length ever since I moved in. Unfortunately, the landscaping crew cut into the cable and we lost internet to the house. Fortunately, Spectrum was able to come out late in the day to run a new cable. I was glad to have all the dirt gone from the side of my house, and pleased with the quality of the work. I was not in a hurry, and I know it was a busy time of year, but I would have preferred to been promised a start date a month away and have the date met the first time, rather than repeatedly been promised earlier dates and that were not met."

Customers say: Quality work

"I contacted Botanical Designs and Kevin McCormick came to my house within a few days. Kevin listened to what I had to say and gave good recommendations for plants, including keeping some existing ones he thought were nice and should stay. Kevin suggested changing the shape of my small "annual" flower garden to make it more graceful. He suggested adding a tree to shade a very hot, dry area in our front yard. He moved some of my existing plants and balanced the blooming color in the landscape. He picked up on my likes and dislikes, and made some great suggestions for new plants. Within a few days he brought a landscape design and an estimate to the front door. We went over the details and refined the plan. Botanical Designs went right to work and worked through the late June rainstorms. They cut some trees down early so that we could save money by getting our brush on the curb before the city's brush pick-up deadline. When they were finished, they did an excellent job of cleaning up our sidewalk and driveway. Our final estimate was a little higher than our original because we decided on a more expensive river rock and the job took a little more rock than was estimated. I found Botanical Designs to be very honest business people."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Gravel is the cheapest way to extend a driveway. Gravel is an affordable, practical option that’s easy to install and perfect for DIY projects, helping you save on labor costs. It can be quickly spread and leveled to create extra driveway space without heavy preparation. While gravel doesn’t offer the same durability or finished look as concrete or asphalt, its low cost makes it ideal for budget-conscious homeowners who want a functional solution without overspending.

Whether you should resurface or replace your asphalt driveway heavily depends on its condition. If the foundation is solid and the damage is minor, resurfacing is your best bet because it’s more affordable and faster than replacing the driveway. But if your driveway has foundational problems and/or severe damage, like large, deep cracks and potholes, then it makes more sense to replace it.

A driveway's lifespan varies by material. Asphalt driveways typically last 15 to 30 years, while concrete driveways last longer, between 20 and 50 years. The longevity of any driveway is affected by factors like extreme temperatures, heavy traffic, and the quality of maintenance. Regular upkeep, such as filling cracks, resealing the surface, and ensuring proper drainage, can help extend its life. For gravel driveways, regrading to fill in uneven areas every year or two is recommended.

Common alternatives to a gravel driveway include concrete, asphalt, brick, stone pavers, and permeable pavers. Concrete and asphalt are generally the most affordable options. However, concrete can be prone to cracking in cold climates, while asphalt may soften in areas with high heat and direct sun exposure. For enhanced curb appeal, brick, stone, and permeable pavers are popular choices, though their installation can be more expensive due to intricate designs. Stone pavers offer a natural look and are sometimes installed with gravel around them. Both permeable pavers and brick driveways provide excellent drainage, which helps prevent flooding and reduce water runoff.

The choice between asphalt and concrete depends on your priorities, budget, and climate.

Concrete is generally more durable, lasting up to 50 years with minimal upkeep, and offers more customization options like staining and stamping, which can add more to a home's value. However, it is more expensive upfront and can be prone to cracking in cold climates where water can freeze and expand.

Asphalt is typically cheaper and quicker to install and is easier to repair. It performs better in colder climates. However, it requires more maintenance, including regular resealing, has a shorter lifespan, and can get hot and sticky in intense sunlight.

Ultimately, if durability and long-term value are key, concrete is often the better choice. If upfront cost and performance in cold weather are more important, asphalt may be preferable.
