"Cesar was great to work this. Came out immediately and provided a good quote. His crew was able to come out the next day. Power washed the fence, replaced some damaged boards and rebuilt the gates. Restained everything, the fence looks great. Cesar walked through with me ensuring I was satisfied."

"Haim came out and brought his fence man with him. They gave us several options and we decided to go with a stained cedar fence with two gates. The next week they showed up and while one part of the crew was tearing down the old fence, another crew was working on the new one. It took a few days, but we now have a beautiful stained cedar fence. Like the other times they never left debris in our yard, as they cleaned up every day after their work was done. We chose a wood lattice patio arbor. It was of the same stained cedar, and it's very rustic and we are looking forward to many days sitting under the arbor to escape the Texas sun. The thing about G.H. Construction, is they show up on time and work a full day. They are supervised and if we had any questions or concerns, they responded in short order and eased our concerns. We are so pleased we are considering siding on the house. You can be sure we will use G.H."

"Thomas stained my 500 foot long 8' cedar fence. First, he power washed it and then applied the stain. He also fixed both of my gates. Thomas is very professional, attentive and conscientious. Communication was excellent. He did a wonderful job on my fence and I would definitely use him again. Check him out."

"Outstanding!

Mr. Greg Pelt, owner of Superior Paintint Company, conducted a thorough inspection of the area of work. Explained in detail the services his company provides including how our job would be accomplished. Greg provided a detailed proposal. On the first work day Greg introduced John, the painter, then explained the job scope in detail.

John and helper Dennis were true professionals. John explained each days objectives along with upcoming goals. All work was carried out in a safe, clean and extremely efficient, effective manner. Any questions were quickly answered. All special requests were accomplished. John ensured all paint and work was done exactly according to our contract. John and Dennis were very friendly, courteous and trustworthy. All expectations was exceeded. Even with our home being two stories John's painting talents enabled him to apply an outstanding finish. He made painting so high appear to be a breeze. Dennis ensured John's safety throughout the project. John's staining work was just as beautiful. In conclusion, Greg's Superior Painting Company will be our go to contactor for all of our future painting projects. We highly recommend Superior Painting Company. Request John be assigned your project. Our twenty year old home now looks brand new thanks to Superior Painting Company. Thank you Greg, John and Dennis for such a great job.

"Great! JTB Painting easily won our job on the basis of price and his reviews on Angie's List. He prepped and painted all exterior wood surfaces and trim on our house in Irving, TX. We found Jeff to be as good or better than his reviews. He gave us a great price, did excellent work prepping and painting our house, and completed the work with the time he said it would take. It was very hot outside, but he worked through the heat of the day to get the job done. My next-door neighbor was so impressed with the work Jeff did on my house, he hired JTB to do his house, too! Jeff is honest, hard-working, soft-spoken, does great work, and is as good as his word."

"Seal & Appeal crushed it for us. They built our deck and privacy fence and it came out awesome. We ended up calling them back to repaint the house, and while they were here they noticed our gutters had some pretty bad storm damage from last year. They handled that too and it was way cheaper than another quote we got. Super easy crew to work with and really flexible when we had to move things around on our end. Overall just a really solid experience would definitely recommend them to anyone."

Small jobs welcome

Customers say: Quick response

"Project: Interior paint and stain. Henry did some painting, cabinet repair, and cabinet staining for me. He was always punctual, and there every day. The project took 5 days. I especially loved the stain on the cabinets. Toward the end of the project my husband got sick and head to go into hospital. While I was with my husband, Henry finished the project. I was told when I came back, there was a surprise for me. Henry had painted a room I had planned to paint myself. This was a welcome surprise! All who were going to help me with this room were senior citizens, just like me. This was just wonderful, and all our joints thank him! I would highly recommend Henry as he seems to be knowledgeable about everything. His wife Christy keeps things running smoothly from the business end, and always lets you know where the project is at time wise."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

You can refresh a painted deck by either giving it a thorough cleaning or refinishing the deck altogether. Chipped or faded paint, as well as extensive damage, often calls for a new finish. To do this, remove the original coat of paint with a sander and add either a new coat of paint or a stain to protect the wood below.

Applying too much sealer to a deck might seem like extra protection, but it can cause more harm than good. Wood is a porous material with a limited capacity to absorb liquids. When you go overboard with sealer, the excess can't soak in and instead forms a film on the surface. This leftover layer is prone to peeling, cracking, and trapping moisture, ultimately defeating the purpose of sealing in the first place.

Wood stain is typically dry to the touch within 6 to 12 hours, but it is not fully cured at this point. You should wait at least 24 hours before applying a second coat or a protective finish. For surfaces like decks, avoid walking on them for at least 24 to 48 hours, and wait even longer before placing furniture. The full curing process can take from 24 hours to one week, depending on the type of stain. Factors like high humidity and cold temperatures can extend drying and curing times, so it's wise to allow for extra time in these conditions.

While the answer varies based on weather, 10 a.m. is a good time to start painting. The dew will have dried, meaning there’s no moisture on the house, and the temperature will likely be moderate and the sunlight less direct. Starting mid-morning should also give you enough daylight and pleasant weather to work on the job for several hours.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood, as this helps prevent the surface from cracking. However, it is crucial to wait for the wood to dry out completely from the chemical treatment process before applying a finish. If the wood is still wet, the paint will not adhere properly. The drying time can range from weeks to six months. To test if the wood is ready, drip some water onto a board. If the water is absorbed, the wood is dry enough for painting or staining. If the water beads up on the surface, it needs more time to dry. You can build with the wood while it's still wet, but you must wait for it to dry before painting.
