"Ty came out and after talking to me and taking some measurements, since the whole house was on a tilt from front to back, respectfully suggested that it would cost too much money to repair and that it was probably not worth it on an older home. He suggested that if we can live with it, that we should just do some cosmetic repairs. He even made some suggestions on how best to make these repairs by not just spackling, but actually replacing sections of drywall since the points were already weak. I really appreciated the honesty and feedback on how best to proceed."

"I had some settling issues with my foundation, and Jacob from FSS did a thorough evaluation of the problem. I had already had six different companies come by, so I was getting familiar with the routine. What impressed me about the FSS solution was that they could actually stabilize the foundation, putting it on piers that would not shift in the future, unlike the other companies. When the installation crew arrived (Thomas, Timothy and Kennen), they brought along some really impressive galvanized steel hardware. The installation crew was clean and very meticulous about the details, making sure everything was installed correctly. After the foundation was stabilized and leveled, another crew came to do a polyfoam injection under the foundation to fill the air gap left by leveling the foundation. This way the entire foundation is supported, and not resting just on the edges. Overall, I was very pleased with the work. They were certainly not the cheapest, but then, you often get what you pay for."

"Did a great job! Worked fast and completed the job in the timeline he specified. The concrete dried too quickly, and he came back out the same day to fix some surface cracks. I'm so happy with the finished product. We will be using him again for future projects."

"My pier and beam house was built around the end of WW2 and the bathroom looked like it had been there. I had foundation issues due to old water damage and the floor felt like it was on the verge of collapse. The foundation was done relatively quick and raised the bathroom 1.5 inches. A few cracks but nothing a little putty and paint couldn't fix. They were in and out in about 3 days and you wouldn't even know they were there with the way they respectfully took care of everything. Next was the bathroom remodel. The bathroom had to go down to the studs and the frame. All supports were reinforced and pipes replaced. To help assist with expediting this, have a list of everything you want ahead of time and start ordering asap. Supply lines are still not the best and was able to swap some materials out to comparable on the shelf replacements. Keep the concept in mind but be flexible with the details and you won't be disappointed. This stalled completion by a week but overall was completed in a little over 3 weeks. The house does not shake the pictures when you walk thru it now and the bathroom sparkles and shines vs being a scary place to walk into. I highly recommend Hercules Foundation and Home Remodeling. Allen Alexander is a warm individual to work with and put me at ease to face the challenges ahead. The pricing was very fair for the amount of work that was done. Felix and Mike the storyteller made the foundation work feel like it was a walk in the park. Rodger the carpenter was with me every step of the way on the bathroom and wrangling the ordering and the trades teams like a boxing champion. Dave the tile master was cutting edge with his impromptu design. They were all very pleasant to work with, very professional and highly skilled at what they do and they do it well. Respectful of working in your home and kept it clean like if they were working in their own home. If you are interested in having this type of work done, I would highly recommend talking with these folks as you are gathering your bids. Every time I walk by my new bathroom, I stop and smile."

"Tradition Services is a company that stands behind their work. If it is not done correctly, they will take the necessary steps to fix the problem, regardless of the circumstances. Our installation at our home did not go according to plan, but the owner of the company came out and oversaw all the repairs to ensure my family was safe from gas in the house. So many companies nowadays will take your money and not deliver on their promise to do the job correctly, and I'm satisfied to say Tradition Services isn't that."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Yes, brick houses are better insulated, because the bricks slow down the passage of air from the outside to the inside and vice-versa. This helps to stabilize the internal temperature of the home. When combined with proper residential insulation, brick houses are more efficient and better insulated than other types.

Cutting stone comes with a number of safety hazards. First and foremost, if you’re not comfortable with the equipment required to cut stone, including blades and grinders, you could easily injure yourself. The heavy machinery also poses a risk to your ears if you don’t wear proper ear protection; similarly, you need to wear eye protection to keep debris from irritating your eyes.

However, the biggest risk from cutting stone comes from the stone dust. When breathed in, stone dust can be a huge hazard to your lungs. Always wear a face mask when cutting stone to prevent inhaling stone dust, and thoroughly clean the work area when you are finished.

To avoid injury, we recommend hiring a stone-cutting professional, rather than attempting this job yourself.

No, you shouldn’t lay bricks directly on dirt. While it might seem like a shortcut, it leads to a patio that shifts, sinks, and becomes a maintenance headache. Dirt expands, contracts, and erodes—none of which mix well with long-term stability. To build something that lasts, excavate the topsoil, compact a layer of crushed gravel, and add a coarse sand-setting bed. This layered base gives your bricks proper support, allows drainage, and helps block weeds from creeping through. Cutting corners here just means you’ll spend more time—and money—repairing your brick patio later.

Choosing the right paint color for your brick house can be a daunting task. A great strategy is to find painted brick houses that you like and try to replicate the look by researching their colors or asking the homeowners for the specific paint color code.

If you're looking for specific ideas, several colors work well on brick. Different shades of white, such as off-white or cream-white, can create a modern, timeless, and classic look that is unlikely to go out of style. For a more contemporary aesthetic, you might consider a matte black tone. Other popular choices include gray, blue, and sage green.

Most of the time, you don’t need to seal brickwork and can save that money for another area of home improvement. But if your brick is cracking or you live in an area with a lot of excess moisture (either in terms of rain or freezes), sealing can extend the lifetime of your home. But, make sure you use a breathable sealant, like siloxane, to allow the moisture to evaporate on its own.
