"Stephen was professional while he was working on my skylight roof project. He is very detailed with his work and explanation of the repair that needs to be done. The quality of the work seems great, but the true test will be when it really rains "cats and dogs" to be sure that the skylight will not be leaking again. But, Stephen assures me that he guarantees that it will not leak due to him taking pride in his work and professionalism at what he does. Stephen also guarantees his work with a two year warranty. That is a great peace of mind I have! And, this company is not expensive at all. I'm sure I must have saved a lot compared to other roof companies. I recommend Stephen's company: Rain Drop Roofing and Repairs."

"This went very well. I had estimates from others but this one offered to do it "right" from the beginning and still saved me money over the other estimates. I had a patio cover roof that was not proper for the lack of slope on my patio cover. I had previously bought a patio cover that really didn't need "shingles" but was required by my hoa. I told the patio cover people that so they slapped shingles on it despite the fact the pitch was not steep enough to handle shingles. (I didn't know this was incorrect until the wood the shingles were stapled onto began to rot out and attract carpenter ants).  So, I got estimates for the fix.  One roofer I had an estimate from suggested I just take the shingles off and "patch" the holes. The problem with that is that would violate the hoa policy and look unsightly as well. His estimate to put on modified "bidenum" (or something that looks just like shingles that they roll out and stick on your low pitch roof was $1750.) Action Roofing to fix it right with this same stuff was $1350 but I got a $50 discount for being an Angie's list person. He sent out 3 guys who by the way went back to the place they get this stuff on the morning they arrived and got a better matching color. This modified "bidenum" stuff looks just like shingles but is what they use for low pitch roofs. Anyway, it was nice they took the time to go back and get the color that actually matched my shingles vs. just telling me that's the only color it came in or something. I watched them put this on from my 2nd story window and they did an excellent job. They also put up some extra flashing and did a great job. I would use them again with no hesitation.

Skylights questions, answered by experts

Ceiling costs depend on many factors, such as the material used and size, but coffered ceilings are considered one of the more expensive ceiling options. If you want to install a coffered ceiling but have a limited budget, consider using plywood instead of hardwood—it costs $2–$4.50 per square foot, while hardwood can be as much as $20 per square foot.

Leaks are the top concern for skylights, often due to improper installation or worn-out seals. Over time, water can seep in and cause major damage to your home’s ceilings and walls. Other common issues include condensation, which leads to mold, as well as physical damage from weather or debris. If they’re not sealed properly, skylights can also bring unwanted heat in the summer or cold in the winter, affecting your home’s energy efficiency and tacking on extra dollars to your bills.

Water will leak through a skylight if there are issues in the sealing of the skylight. Find and fix those issues yourself if possible, but it’s a good idea to contact a professional, as there could be much more water damage than you initially saw. Plus, it’s dangerous to work on a roof without the proper safety equipment and know-how.

Prevent future skylight issues by conducting regular inspections, ensuring gutters are clean to prevent water pooling, applying protective sealants periodically, and trimming overhanging branches that might cause physical damage to the skylight.

Common skylight issues include leaks, condensation between glass panes, damaged seals, and cracks in the glazing. Regular exposure to weather elements can lead to these problems, requiring timely attention to preserve the integrity of the skylight and the surrounding roof structure.
