"I enjoyed working with them! I have old floors in my house that needed to be sanded and stained; they now look like new floors. Hardwood Starz was prompt, professional, and helpful. I would definitely recommend them."

"Highly recommend. We live out of state and have a rental property in San Antonio that was in need of new flooring and paint. After searching through many reviews for someone reputable, I came across JC Quality Flooring. The excellent reviews are well earned. Juan provided estimates, and even offered suggestions. I initially planned to go with the same color carpet I had (cream), but he suggested other options that would be more renter friendly. I initially thought grey might be a good idea, but he mentioned that it wouldn’t match well with the tile (he thought through every detail). He showed us samples of carpet that is common for rentals and ideal for high traffic, so we went with his suggestion which turned out beautifully. The paint, interior and exterior, was also perfect. Juan notified me of items that tenants left adhered to the walls, and was even kind enough to remove them. Throughout the entire process, Juan sent pictures and videos. The team worked incredibly fast and efficiently to get our house ready for the market. Juan checked in with us after everything was completed to see if the property managers had time to look at their work, and the property managers confirmed everything looked great. We are so glad that we chose JC Quality Flooring and will definitely continue to use them to keep our rental looking good as new."

"ISM did a really nice custom floor installation. They had to have flooring milled to match floors in other rooms and it worked out very well. I would recommend them to anyone wanting wood floors installed."

"The Talamantez Group did an amazing job remodeling our master bathroom and installing new floors in our master bedroom and closet. Ana Marie is a meticulous project manager who helped us with our selections, provided a detailed timeline with cost projections and offered constant communications throughout our project. Eric and his crews were professional and polite who arrived as scheduled and daily left our home as clean as they had arrived. Eric's knowledge and attention to detail were extremely valuable in building our dream master bathroom. The craftsmanship and professionalism of the Talamantez Group was definitely above and beyond. I will gladly recommend their services to all of our family and friends. Thank you!"

"Floors turns out wonderfully! It took 6 days and then they were completely done. We got a POD as they requested all surfaces be cleaned off. They moved the furniture around. I do believe it would’ve been easier and less time consuming if we had placed our large furniture in storage as well and then not stay in the home. Get an Airbnb or hotel room. Someone does need to stay on property while they were working. Overall, very pleased with the work and experience with Express Flooring!"

The cost of flooring installation is $3,000 for the average homeowner. This cost can range from $1,500 to $4,500, depending on the project size, flooring material, and any special features. For example, if stairs need new flooring, you can expect to pay about $11 to $160 per step. Additionally, hardwood flooring costs significantly more than linoleum, with hardwood ranging from $6 to $22 per square foot and linoleum costing $3 to $7 per square foot.
Believe it or not, adding new flooring—especially floors like hardwood, laminate, tile, or vinyl—can add significant value to your home. If you update your flooring close to when you sell your home, you can see up to a 70% ROI on your new floors. Adding new flooring to your home is one of the quickest ways to make the whole room look refreshed and new, which is a positive point for selling.
While you certainly can install new flooring yourself, it may not always be the best idea. Since the condition of the floors is a significant component of your property’s value, it’s important that your project looks professionally done. If not, you run the risk of needing to have them replaced again before selling your home. If you’re looking to save money on the cost of floor installation, consider removing the old flooring yourself to save on labor costs.
When it comes to flooring installers, licensing laws vary from state to state. Even if your state doesn’t require your flooring installer to have a license, your municipality or city might, so it’s a good idea to check with your town before getting started. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local general contractor guidelines.
Hiring an unlicensed flooring installer could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
It takes about one to three days for a two-person crew to lay 800 to 1,000 square feet of flooring daily. Remember that removal of existing flooring and additional prep work is considered during this time, and it’s likely that you won’t be able to pass through the room easily. In addition, you can expect lots of hammering and other noise from power tools during installation, so it’s best to plan accordingly.
