Our Experience Eddy made it clear that Xtreme Air Services "wouldn't be able to help us" if we posted negative reviews about their incompetence, despite the fact that they improperly installed our unit, left us with a potential fire hazard, and disabled one of our heat coils (without our consent). Clearly, not one of the seven techs they sent even tested the heating function beyond a few moments. Fast forward to winter--our heater trips the breaker after 5-10 minutes, sometimes running inconsistently (aka, a fire hazard). Xtreme Air's Response? * No accountability. * No apology. * Just more incompetence from "General Manager" Eddy, a pompous clown who lacks both professionalism and basic customer service skills. Instead of addressing their negligence, he condescended, interrupted, and dismissed legitimate concerns. He even had the audacity to tell me we "don't have that many cold days in Texas." The general rule of thumb for figuring out how much AC tonnage you need in your home is that for every 500 to 600 square feet of space you need to cool, you’ll need one ton of AC cooling power. So, a 1,000-square-foot home will need 2 tons of AC power. 

HVAC replacement doesn't always include ductwork replacement. It depends on the condition of the existing ductwork. You can reuse your ducts if they are in good shape, adequately sized, and meet current standards. However, if the ducts are damaged, poorly designed, or not appropriately sized for the new system, they may need to be replaced or upgraded. HVAC contractors will assess the condition of the ductwork during the replacement process and recommend any necessary modifications or replacements to ensure the new HVAC system operates efficiently and distributes air effectively throughout your home.

You may never need an AC recharge if there are no leaks. However, if your AC unit has a leak that cannot be patched appropriately, you’ll need an AC recharge every time the freon level drops low enough that it disrupts your system—this could be once every two to three years. It all depends on the size and frequency of the leak.

An AC drip pan may stop draining if there’s a clog where the drip pan connects to the drain line. Clogs can form from a lack of cleaning or from rust or corrosion buildup. Cleaning the drip pan at least once per month lowers the chances of debris clogging the drain line.

It’s not customary to tip HVAC technicians, and most professionals won’t expect it. However, it’s a nice way of showing your appreciation for the work they do, especially if they come out in inclement weather or on a weekend or holiday to fix an emergency issue if your heat or AC goes out in extreme temperatures. A good tip would be between 10% to 20% of the total bill, depending on how above and beyond the tech goes for your repair and on the total cost of your HVAC repair or service. For something like a routine tune-up or scheduled maintenance, tips aren’t expected.
